{"id":256248,"date":"2025-11-01T21:45:09","date_gmt":"2025-11-01T21:45:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/256248\/"},"modified":"2025-11-01T21:45:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-01T21:45:09","slug":"have-a-say-on-walking-and-cycling-strategy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/256248\/","title":{"rendered":"Have a say on walking and cycling strategy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Central Coast Council is inviting residents, community members and visitors to share their priorities and experiences to help shape a new Walking and Cycling Strategy for the region.<\/p>\n<p>Now in development, the Strategy will guide future investment over the next 10 years to improve walking and cycling infrastructure across the Central Coast.<\/p>\n<p>The goal is to better connect the region\u2019s beaches, towns, schools and destinations with infrastructure that\u2019s safe, accessible and welcoming for people of all ages and abilities.<\/p>\n<p>Central Coast Mayor Lawrie McKinna said community feedback was essential to ensure the Walking and Cycling Strategy reflected local needs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWalking and cycling are part of everyday life on the Coast,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhether you walk to the shops, cycle to work, or push a pram around your neighbourhood, we want to hear what would make it safer and easier for you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Strategy builds on Council\u2019s 2019 Bike Plan and Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plan, which laid the foundation for promoting active transport across the region.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, Council has expanded its shared pathway network and footpath program significantly, unlocking funding through NSW Government grants and developer contributions.<\/p>\n<p>Director of Infrastructure Services Boris Bolgoff said the new Strategy would reflect best practice and community priorities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve listened to feedback from previous consultations and are now prioritising better access to key destinations, stronger walking and cycling and connections and improved infrastructure around town centres, schools and public transport,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis strategy will help us deliver infrastructure that supports people of all ages and abilities \u2013 and I encourage everyone to share their ideas through Your Voice Our Coast.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Council will conduct drop-in sessions: from 3.30-7pm on Tuesday, November 11, at Halekulani Community Hall; from 3.30-7pm on Wednesday, November 19 at The Entrance Community Centre; from 3.30-7pm on Wednesday, November 26 at Kariong Youth Hall (The Hill), 98 Mitchell Dr; from 1.30-6pm on Tuesday, December 2 at Peninsula Community Centre; from 3.30-7pm on Tuesday, December 9 at Erina Trust Community Hall; and from 2-30-6.30pm on Wednesday, December 10, at Wyong District Youth &amp; Community Centre, 191 Wallarah Rd, Kanwal.<\/p>\n<p>The public consultation period runs until December 23.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, search \u2018walking and cycling\u2019 at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yourvoiceourcoast.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">yourvoiceourcoast.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Central Coast Council is inviting residents, community members and visitors to share their priorities and experiences to help&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":256249,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[569],"tags":[64,63,784,85],"class_list":{"0":"post-256248","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-cycling","8":"tag-au","9":"tag-australia","10":"tag-cycling","11":"tag-sports"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/256248","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=256248"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/256248\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/256249"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=256248"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=256248"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=256248"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
