Atlanta Hawks<\/a> star Trae Young<\/a> sustained a sprained MCL in his right knee and will be reevaluated in four weeks, sources told ESPN on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Young underwent an MRI on Friday, and multiple doctor reviews showed that he dodged major structural damage in the knee.<\/p>\n

Young suffered the injury during the first quarter of Wednesday’s win over the Brooklyn Nets<\/a>. Young was standing underneath the basket when teammate Mouhamed Gueye<\/a> was shoved by Nets forward Noah Clowney<\/a> and fell backward into Young’s leg.<\/p>\n

Young left the team, which finishes a four-game road trip Sunday in Cleveland, to go back to Atlanta to undergo the MRI and see doctors.<\/p>\n

Atlanta entered this season with heightened expectations after an impressive offseason that added Kristaps Porzingis<\/a>, Nickeil Alexander-Walker<\/a> and Luke Kennard<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Hawks already needed time to develop cohesion with their new pieces but now will be without their star point guard for more than a month.<\/p>\n

Jalen Johnson<\/a> — who is averaging 20.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists — said Young is “the best in the world” at being a playmaker and scorer. Replacing an All-Star who averaged 24.2 points and 11.6 assists last season will require a team effort.<\/p>\n

“It’s going to take time,” Johnson told ESPN. “But we’re all disciplined. Everybody works hard. Everybody’s willing to listen. We take our film sessions very seriously. So I think if we just continue to grow after each game and go out there with a winning mindset, everything will take care of itself. Just not putting too much pressure on ourselves and feel like we have to overdo something.”<\/p>\n

The reigning assists champ, Young is averaging 17.8 points and 7.8 assists this season.<\/p>\n
