PHILADELPHIA\u00a0– The Drexel\u00a0Dragons men’s basketball team will start their 2025-26 season against the Widener Pride on Monday, November 3 at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.\u00a0 The game tips off at 6 p.m. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Worker’s Local 98 is once again the presenting sponsor of Drexel Men’s Basketball.<\/p>\n
About Drexel
\nThe Dragons won 18 games last season and placed eighth in the Costal Athletic Association with an 18-15 record. Drexel won their second straight Big Five game against Penn and advanced to the CAA quarterfinals where they lost a close match to the eventual Champion Towson\u00a0Tigers.\u00a0<\/p>\n
With 70% of last season’s roster returning the Dragons look to build off of their momentum from last year where they won five of six games to end the season. Junior guards\u00a0Villiam Garcia Adsten<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Shane Blakeney<\/a>\u00a0return for their second and third years respectively. Other returning upperclassmen include\u00a0Victor Panov<\/a>,\u00a0Kevon Vanderhorst<\/a>, and\u00a0Garfield Turner<\/a>. Coach\u00a0Zach Spiker<\/a>\u00a0and his staff have also added five new players to the team, four transfers\u00a0and one\u00a0freshman.\u00a0Moses Hipps<\/a>\u00a0from Boise State,\u00a0Eli Beard<\/a>\u00a0from Mary Hardin-Baylor,\u00a0Martin de Laporterie<\/a>\u00a0from\u00a0Yavapai Community College,\u00a0Dillon Tingler<\/a>\u00a0from Eastern Michigan, and freshman\u00a0Ignacio Campoy Galvez<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n About Widener The Series What’s Next
\nThe Pride are a Division III school located in Chester, Pennsylvania. They are coached by Chris Carideo in his 19th season.<\/p>\n
\nTonight will be the only time the Dragons and Pride meet this season.<\/p>\n
\nThe Dragons return to the DAC on Monday, November 3 to face the Widener Pride. The Dragons will hit the road to play Saint Joseph’s University in the first of three Big 5 games this season before playing Colgate in New York.
