Greens senator and spokesperson for the environment Sarah Hanson-Young has delivered scathing criticism of the National Party\u2019s abandonment of net zero targets, arguing that \u201cdumping net zero\u2026 is effectively dumping action on climate change\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Coalition have proved themselves to be a party that\u2019s just not serious about the environment. You can\u2019t pretend that you care about the future of our country, the safety of and security of Australia. You can\u2019t even pretend you care about the people in the bush, in the regions, if you don\u2019t have a credible policy on climate change.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe climate crisis is already here. It\u2019s creating havoc for our farmers, for many who live in the regions, for those in the cities and the suburbs as well those huge weather events, storms, cyclones, floods, droughts that are becoming more extreme and more frequent,\u201d Hanson-Young told ABC\u2019s News Breakfast this morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo not have a credible policy, in fact, to do the opposite, to take the country backwards, to be so anti-science, so anti-environment, so anti-investment in Australia. It is the biggest wrecking of climate action I\u2019ve seen for a very long time.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Coalition are a joke\u2026 but they\u2019re a dangerous joke. They don\u2019t care.
