Manuel Akanji has stayed coy on his future, telling the press \u201cWe\u2019ll see what happens\u201d after the Nerazzurri\u2019s 2-1 win at Verona on Sunday, but confirmed that the club \u201cseem happy\u201d with him as Inter consider whether or not to exercise their option-to-buy this season.<\/p>\n

Akanji signed for Inter on deadline day<\/a>, in a loan move from Premier League giants Manchester City. He has settled in well at the Nerazzurri and is Cristian Chivu\u2019s most used centre-back so far this season.<\/p>\n

The move becomes permanent upon certain conditions but Inter also have an option to buy the defender.<\/p>\n

Akanji coy on future but hints he\u2019s happy at Inter<\/p>\n

Speaking after the Verona win, via CalcioMercato<\/a>, Akanji said \u201cWe\u2019ll see what happens at the end of the season. I\u2019m trying to do my best on the pitch, and in the end we\u2019ll see if Inter decide to keep me or not: the decision is up to them. They seem happy, but we\u2019ll see what happens. For now, there\u2019s nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Swiss international also discussed adapting to life in Serie A.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe league is as competitive as I expected. I\u2019m trying to do my best within my abilities to help the team. I like the club, the coach, the staff \u2013 I\u2019m very happy here.\u201d<\/p>\n

It seems likely that Akanji\u2019s stay in Lombardy will become a permanent one. Experienced defenders Francesco Acerbi, Stefan De Vrij and Matteo Darmian are reportedly set to leave the club next summer when their contracts expire.<\/p>\n
