The Punjabi singer-actor has won hearts across the world with his charm, humility, and unmatched talent. The global artist revealed that as a child, he was sent to live with his maternal uncle when he was around 10 or 11 years old. He admitted that it hurt him deeply at the time, as the decision was made without asking him, and he could only meet his parents once every few months. Despite the distance, Diljit grew up with strong family values, instilled in him by his father, a roadways ticket checker who believed in simplicity and hard work.

Speaking about his father, Diljit described him as a calm and content man who led a modest life. He often reminded Diljit that he would always have food to eat and a home to live in, but everything else he wanted to achieve in life would depend on his own efforts. These words, Diljit said, became the foundation of his life philosophy.

Growing up, the family often struggled to make ends meet. To help out, Diljit began singing at weddings and birthday parties, earning around Rs 2,000 per show. What started as a small way to support his family soon became his calling. “That’s when I realised this work could change my life,” he said on the show.
