The 2025 Melbourne Cup jumps at 3pm from Flemington<\/p>\n

A series of experts from leading financial services company Macquarie Capital as well as an artificial intelligence (AI<\/a>) model have crunched the numbers when it comes to the 2025 Melbourne Cup – and both declared the same winner.<\/p>\n

Macquarie’s quantitative analysts team incorporated value, momentum, sentiment, quality and innovative data, and concluded Half Yours will be the victor at Flemington just after 3pm on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

When it came to the AI-inspired PunterGPT model, it was the same outcome, with the five-year-old Aussie gelding tipped to finish ahead of Irish stayer Presage Nocturne and Valiant King.<\/p>\n

Macquarie Capital’s system proved fruitful in 2023, when Without A Fight outclassed the field over 3200 metres – however, it was a different story last year when Robbie Dolan’s Knight’s Choice stunned punters given he was an $81 chance.<\/a><\/p>\n

It comes as Jamie Melham will ride Half Yours, where she will seek to become the first female hoop to win both the Melbourne Cup and Caulfield Cup.<\/p>\n

Melham, 29, is also aiming to emulate close friend Michelle Payne on the 10th anniversary of her iconic win when she rode rank outsider Prince Of Penzance.<\/p>\n

Payne is the only female jockey to previously win the Melbourne Cup, back in 2015.<\/p>\n

‘I’m very, very excited about it,’ Melham said when quizzed by reporters about her chances on board the recent Caulfield Cup winner.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘This horse (Half Yours) is looking and feeling amazing, he is ready to go.’<\/p>\n

Melham also isn’t worried about riding in wet conditions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘I don’t like the rain that much, but he loves it,’ she added.<\/p>\n

‘Barrier eight (also) makes my job just a little bit easier. I would just love to get as close as I can to the rail early.<\/p>\n

‘He won’t have any trouble running this trip out.’<\/p>\n

It comes as the Flemington track has been downgraded to a soft seven following almost 30mm of rain overnight.<\/p>\n
