Jon Stewart<\/a> is staying put on “The Daily Show”<\/a> through at least 2026.<\/p>\n

Paramount announced Monday, Nov. 3, that Stewart, 62, had re-upped his contract to host Comedy Central’s politically satirical late-night show on Mondays and serve as executive producer through December 2026.<\/p>\n

“The renewal is a win for audiences, for Comedy Central and for all our programming partners,” Ari Pearce, the head of Comedy Central, said in a statement.\u00a0“We’re proud to support Jon and the extraordinary news team.”<\/p>\n

Speaking on the New Yorker Festival podcast in October<\/a>, Stewart said he was “working on staying” with the Comedy Central show, which is a frequent critic of President Donald Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Stewart hosted “The Daily Show” from 1998 to 2015 and returned in 2024 as the part-time host.<\/p>\n

With his contract expiring in December, there were looming questions about whether Stewart would return to “The Daily Show” following Paramount’s merger with David Ellison’s Skydance. More than that, Trump has set his sights on late-night hosts such as Jimmy Kimmel, who was temporarily pulled off ABC on Sept. 16<\/a> following pointed criticism.<\/p>\n

Most recently, Trump has aimed at another late-night talk show host, Seth Meyers. In a lengthy\u00a0Truth Social post<\/a>\u00a0shared on Saturday, Nov. 1, Trump called Meyers “the least talented person to ‘perform’ live in the history of television” in response to the comedian mocking his recent trip to Asia.<\/p>\n

“In fact, he may be the WORST to perform, live or otherwise,” Trump added.<\/p>\n

The Stewart renewal is a show of support for the host \u2014 who also has biting words for Democrats, especially Senator Chuck Schumer<\/a> \u2014 in troubled late-night times. Stewart will be on the air through at least the November 2026 midterm elections. It comes after a third-quarter ratings “Daily Show” bump, with the highest quarterly rating in four years, according to Paramount.<\/p>\n
