The decision to pull the plug on the fight came after disturbing allegations were made against David in an extensive lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend accusing him of battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Paul\u2019s company Most Valuable Promotions immediately started searching for alternative opponents but with no one available on such short notice, the bout against Davis was scrapped and now the former YouTuber is awaiting word on a new matchup with designs on competing in December.<\/p>\n
Just after the announcement was made that the fight with Davis was off, Paul took to social media to unload on his now former opponent for his behavior.<\/p>\n
\u201cGervonta Davis is an actual walking human piece of garbage,\u201d Paul wrote on Instagram. \u201cWorking with him is an absolute nightmare. The unprofessionalism, the bizarre requests, the showing up hours late to shoots. To the numerous arrests and related accusations and lawsuits. If you support this man, you support the most vile sin a man can commit.<\/p>\n

While Paul\u2019s statement obviously admonishes Davis for the allegations against him, this recent lawsuit was far from the first incident involving domestic violence accusations.<\/p>\n
Davis was arrested back in 2020 on charges of domestic violence against an ex-girlfriend and then again in 2022, although the case was eventually tossed when the alleged victim refused to move forward with the case.<\/p>\n
Davis was also taken into custody in July on another battery charge after an alleged altercation with an ex-girlfriend but once again the domestic violence accusations were dropped after the victim declined to press charges.<\/p>\n
Now this lawsuit looms overhead and that was enough for Paul and Netflix to cut ties with Davis and cancel the upcoming fight.<\/p>\n
