The 2025 Melbourne Cup has been won by Half Yours<\/a> for jockey Jamie Melham and trainers Tony and Calvin McEvoy.<\/p>\n

The win delivered Melham her first Melbourne Cup success following on from her victory aboard Half Yours in the recent Caulfield Cup.<\/p>\n

She now enters the record books as the only female jockey to win both the Caulfield and Melbourne Cup.<\/p>\n

Goodie Two Shoes finished second while Middle Earth ran third.<\/p>\n

River Of Stars filled fourth.<\/p>\n

Al Riffa, heavily supported in betting in the countdown to the race, finished midfield.<\/p>\n

1st \u2013 HALF YOURS (Jamie Melham) You play out the race in your head 20, 30 times how you want the race to happen. I wanted to get to the rails as close as I could but we got in a nice enough spot and (husband) Ben told me, let that first wave go, that\u2019s exactly what I did, I cut through, there was a gap this big next to him and I was going to yell at him but my horse was just going too good anyway, he pulled me through the next gap, pulled me through the next gap where there was barely any room, but when a horse is going that well they just take you where you need to go.<\/p>\n

2nd \u2013 GOODIE TWO SHOES (Wayne Lordan) Ran a wonderful race, got a nice position from my draw and she\u2019s run a cracker, just one better today but ran great.<\/p>\n

3rd \u2013 MIDDLE EARTH (Ethan Brown) He ran great. This is obviously his trip, he showed his true colours today, he\u2019s going to be a much better horse next prep, that\u2019ll toughen him up but he couldn\u2019t have run much better.<\/p>\n

4th \u2013 RIVER OF STARS (Beau Mertens) She was fantastic. Slow tempo didn\u2019t suit her but when Land Legend took off, it really made her relax and in a comfortable position. She travelled in really well, probably didn\u2019t have the sprint like the others but she sustained a good gallop through the line.<\/p>\n

5th \u2013 TORRANZINO (Celine Gaudray) Couldn\u2019t be happier with the run that we got. He was a bit on the bridle throughout but he had a really tough finish.<\/p>\n

6th \u2013 VAUBAN (Blake Shinn) He ran super. Big turnaround from the Caulfield Cup. Hit the line well but the winner and the other horse had a bit better turn-of-foot.<\/p>\n

7th \u2013 AL RIFFA (Mark Zahra) It was ok. I was four-wide and had to find a spot to get in and there was too much to do with that weight.<\/p>\n

8th \u2013 ABSURDE (Kerrin McEvoy) He ran well. The pace wasn\u2019t that strong through the first part, had to give them a start. He picked up into it well, good honest run.<\/p>\n

9th \u2013 CHANGINGOFTHEGUARD (Tim Clark) I thought he ran really well. Just when Land Legend went around we were in a position where we had to cart the field up which probably cost him running a few placings closer up.<\/p>\n

10th \u2013 MEYDAAN (James McDonald) He ran well. Got into a lovely spot, switched off well but probably just found the 3200m a fraction far.<\/p>\n

11th \u2013 FURTHUR (Michael Dee) He\u2019s very inexperienced still, he was a touch slow out, travelled very, very strong. We were getting knocked about the first time past the post but travelled strong, held up a nice gallop all the way to the line but his first half he\u2019s just raced a little bit ungenerously.<\/p>\n

12th \u2013 ARAPAHO (Rachel King) Really brave. He hasn\u2019t had the best set up coming into today, but honest as ever.<\/p>\n

13th \u2013 FLATTEN THE CURVE (Thore Hammer-Hansen) I found myself a lot further back than ideal but he still ran a good race considering. Just probably went too quick early doors.<\/p>\n

14th \u2013 SMOKIN\u2019 ROMANS (Ben Melham) He ran well, the old bugger. He\u2019s just had a prep where he\u2019s probably been running on firm ground. He\u2019s got a bit soft ground and he\u2019s just a bit over it. Proud of him anyway.<\/p>\n

15th \u2013 ROYAL SUPREMACY (Robbie Dolan) The wide barrier wasn\u2019t in his aid today, once I couldn\u2019t get cover on him he straight away he just over raced into the first bend, I had to flow with him to get him to relax and it just told late.<\/p>\n

16th \u2013 VALIANT KING (Jye McNeil) They found their spots quickly inside me, I wasn\u2019t able to give him every chance today, he had to do it too tough three wide facing the breeze. Initially I had cover from Land Legend but when he went I was stranded.<\/p>\n

Note: McNeil, the 2020 Melbourne Cup winner, was later given an 18-meeting ban for interfering with Presage Nocturne and Vauban at the 2500m mark.<\/p>\n

17th \u2013 ONESMOOTHOPERATOR (Harry Coffey) He had a lovely run but when the pressure came at the six hundred, he failed to quicken, the wheels were spinning on the soft going.<\/p>\n

18th \u2013 MORE FELONS (Tommy Berry) It was very muddling run race and it made it sort of hard to move into it early enough from where we were and he\u2019s battled on ok.<\/p>\n

19th \u2013 PRESAGE NOCTURNE (Stephane Pasquier) A bit disappointed because he was favoured in the odds.<\/p>\n

20th \u2013 PARCHMENT PARTY (John Velazquez) Provided no comment.<\/p>\n

21st \u2013 ATHABASCAN (Declan Bates) Disappointing. We got deleted early and it sort of put us further back earlier than we wanted. He just hasn\u2019t quite finished off as we would have liked.<\/p>\n

22nd \u2013 LAND LEGEND (Joao Moreira) No manners, pushed too hard. He did a lot of things wrong in the race.<\/p>\n

23rd \u2013 CHEVALIER ROSE (Damian Lane) Disappointing. Unfortunately didn\u2019t race to his best today.<\/p>\n
