The early reports are that the Chris Waller-trained Buckaroo is OK after the gelding was eased up by his rider at the 300 metre mark of the Melbourne Cup.<\/a><\/p>\n

Buckaroo finished a lengthy last in the race that stops the nation after jockey Craig Williams stopped riding the horse and took care of him over the concluding stages of the race. <\/p>\n

At the time Williams detected an issue, Buckaroo was in the second half of the field and close to the middle of the track, about eight lengths off the leader. <\/p>\n

Racing Victoria gave a Buckaroo update on social media, with racing journalist Andrew Hawkins reacting to the news.<\/p>\n

While not ideal, EIPH is quite common in racehorses and they generally recover quickly. <\/p>\n

The stable also indicated post-race that the horse didn\u2019t handle the 3200 metres.<\/p>\n

Racing Victoria stewards also gave updates on two other horses, including race favourite Presage Nocturne.<\/p>\n
