Last week, \u201cJeopardy!<\/a>\u201d host Ken Jennings<\/a> found himself publicly apologizing for something pretty ridiculous after the show received backlash for a clue involving an internet meme known as John Pork<\/a>.<\/p>\n John Pork is an anthropomorphic pigman with a human body and pig head, who has been popping up in Instagram and TikTok content since 2018. The meme\u2019s use is about as silly and confusing as the viral 6-7 joke<\/a>, or as one Reddit user described<\/a> it: \u201cInternet nonsense that is aimed at bored teenagers.\u201d<\/p>\n John Pork is sometimes used just to befuddle older folks. Here\u2019s a little sample:<\/p>\n As goofy as this all sounds, due to John Pork\u2019s popularity, the pigman has some user-generated internet \u201clore\u201d \u2014 or essentially fans of the meme have let their imagination go hog wild about John Pork\u2019s life. He was apparently killed by his nemesis Tim Cheese, a rodent-man with a mouse\u2019s head and human body, and the reasons as to why vary. <\/p>\n Being that John Pork is very much a thing, the writers of \u201cJeopardy!\u201d decided to use him as a clue during the airing of its Oct. 24 episode in a category titled \u201cDaddy Is There Really A\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cNo: A.I. Generated The TikTok Image of this pig\/human eventually killed by Tim Cheese.\u201d<\/p>\n Needless to say, the clue baffled the contestants, and no one answered. Jennings was also lost.<\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t understand any of that,\u201d Jennings said as the buzzer sounded, before revealing the answer. \u201cWho is John Pork?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Well, it seems some John Pork fans were a bit miffed by the wording of the clue. As one commenter on the above clip said:<\/p>\n \u201cJohn pork isn\u2019t AI generated. He\u2019s from before that became popularized.\u201d<\/p>\n Although artificial intelligence is used in a lot of John Pork-related content, it is unclear how the original pig person was created.<\/p>\n Due to this, Jennings and the long-running game show decided to issue a jokey apology on TikTok.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen we played a clue recently on \u2018Jeopardy!\u2019 about John Pork, I remarked that \u2018I didn\u2019t understand a word of it,\u2019\u201d Jennings began, sincerely. <\/p>\n \u201cWell, I\u2019ve had the chance to learn quite a bit since that clue aired about the late Mr. Pork, including the fact that some viewers took exception with our description of him as AI-generated.\u201d<\/p>\n Jennings continued, \u201cNow, even though AI is used heavily in many of his TikToks, it\u2019s possible that wasn\u2019t the best wording to refer to his original appearances. John, I hope you\u2019ll forgive me and all of us at \u2018Jeopardy!\u2019 for any insult we may have committed against you or your memory.\u201d<\/p>\n TikTok users gobbled up Jenning\u2019s apology, and piled on with more jokes.<\/p>\n \u201cNo way this is how I find out John Pork died,\u201d one user quipped.<\/p>\n \u201cTop notch accountability here.
