Various instruments were utilized, including global cognitive measures, such as the MMSE, MoCA, and Alzheimer\u2019s Disease Assessment Scale-Cognitive Subscale (ADAS-Cog). Additionally, a variety of other cognitive tests that measured specific cognitive domains were employed.<\/p>\n<p>Global cognition was examined in all systematic reviews, with MMSE and MoCA being the most used instruments. Positive effects of dance interventions on global cognition were consistently reported. However, Vega-\u00c1vila et al. [<a data-track=\"click\" data-track-action=\"reference anchor\" data-track-label=\"link\" data-test=\"citation-ref\" aria-label=\"Reference 41\" title=\"Vega-\u00c1vila GC, et al. One systematic review [<a data-track=\"click\" data-track-action=\"reference anchor\" data-track-label=\"link\" data-test=\"citation-ref\" aria-label=\"Reference 40\" title=\"Zhu Y, et al. Effects of aerobic dance on cognition in older adults with mild cognitive impairment: a systematic review and meta-analysis. Most systematic reviews exhibited a risk of bias, except one [<a data-track=\"click\" data-track-action=\"reference anchor\" data-track-label=\"link\" data-test=\"citation-ref\" aria-label=\"Reference 38\" title=\"Wang S, et al. Effects of mind-body exercise on cognitive function in older adults with cognitive impairment: a systematic review and meta-analysis. J Nerv Ment Dis. 2018;206. &#010;                  https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1097\/nmd.0000000000000912&#010;                  &#010;                .\" href=\"http:\/\/bmcgeriatr.biomedcentral.com\/articles\/10.1186\/s12877-025-06483-7#ref-CR38\" id=\"ref-link-section-d12138202e1537\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">38<\/a>] which showed no significant bias.<\/p>\n<p>The certainty of evidence assessment is available in the supplementary file S7.<\/p>\n<p>Meta-analyses<\/p>\n<p>Effect sizes representing the standardized mean difference (SMD) between interventions are presented in Figs. <a data-track=\"click\" data-track-label=\"link\" data-track-action=\"figure anchor\" href=\"http:\/\/bmcgeriatr.biomedcentral.com\/articles\/10.1186\/s12877-025-06483-7#Fig3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">3<\/a>, <a data-track=\"click\" data-track-label=\"link\" data-track-action=\"figure anchor\" href=\"http:\/\/bmcgeriatr.biomedcentral.com\/articles\/10.1186\/s12877-025-06483-7#Fig4\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">4<\/a> and <a data-track=\"click\" data-track-label=\"link\" data-track-action=\"figure anchor\" href=\"http:\/\/bmcgeriatr.biomedcentral.com\/articles\/10.1186\/s12877-025-06483-7#Fig5\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">5<\/a> with 95% confidence intervals and an overall pooled estimates. Meta-analyses showed significant effects of dance intervention on global cognition. The MoCA scores increased (SMD = 0.61, 95% CI: 0.30 to 0.91, p &lt; 0,001) with high heterogeneity (I\u00b2 = 66.6%); MMSE scores increased (SMD = 0.37, 95% CI: 0.27 to 0.47, p &lt; 0.001) with low heterogeneity (I\u00b2 = 0%); and, combined MMSE and MoCA scores increased (SMD = 0.73, 95% CI: 0.58 to 0.87, p &lt; 0.001) with low heterogeneity (I\u00b2 = 0%). Significant effects were also observed on cognitive domains. The TMT-A scores improved (SMD = 0.23, 95% CI: 0.10 to 0.36, p &lt; 0,01) with moderate heterogeneity (I\u00b2 = 36.7%); and, TMT-B scores improved (SMD = 0.21, 95% CI: 0.09 to 0.32, p &lt; 0,01) with low heterogeneity (I\u00b2 = 8%). However, the observed heterogeneity should be interpreted with caution, as it may be influenced by the small amount of variability between studies and the small number of systematic reviews included in each meta-analyses [<a data-track=\"click\" data-track-action=\"reference anchor\" data-track-label=\"link\" data-test=\"citation-ref\" aria-label=\"Reference 42\" title=\"von Hippel PT.
