{"id":264389,"date":"2025-11-05T13:46:09","date_gmt":"2025-11-05T13:46:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/264389\/"},"modified":"2025-11-05T13:46:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-05T13:46:09","slug":"sense-arena-nhlpa-partner-to-bring-nhl-players-into-virtual-reality-platform","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/264389\/","title":{"rendered":"Sense Arena, NHLPA partner to bring NHL players into virtual reality platform"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph technology \">Virtual reality-based sports training platform <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2023\/11\/01\/nhl-sense-arena-vr-platform-launches\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2023\/11\/01\/nhl-sense-arena-vr-platform-launches\/\">Sense Arena<\/a> has a new licensing deal with the NHLPA that will allow it to integrate more than 600 NHL athlete likenesses into NHL Sense Arena \u201926, the latest iteration of the company\u2019s VR hockey app used by players and fans alike. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph technology \">Sense Arena has had a license with the NHL since 2023 that covers team logos, uniforms and arenas &#8212; featured in NHL Sense Arena \u201924 and \u201925 &#8212; but the separate deal with the players association, according to Sense Arena founder &amp; CEO Bob Tetiva, will add a layer of realism to the platform\u2019s gaming and training features.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph technology \">\u201cYou\u2019re going to have all the stars, but not only the stars, the third liners [too],\u201d Tetiva said, adding that Sense Arena developed a system to turn 2D images of the players into 3D likenesses instead of having to scan each player individually. \u201cIt took us more than half a year to work on all of those. We\u2019ve gone through the process of approval one-by-one with the PA.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph technology \">Financial terms were not disclosed for the NHLPA partnership. Tetiva characterized it as a multiyear agreement (as is its NHL deal) but declined to specify further.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph technology \">The new likenesses launches Wednesday, Nov. 5. First-time features for NHL Sense Arena \u201926 include: <\/p>\n<p>A 3-on-3 game mode where users can play out a full, 82-game NHL season as any of the league\u2019s 32 teams. (This formally launched in April but will now include the athlete likenesses, an ability to make roster moves and face-offs, among other new elements.)DanglePro, which lets users train their stickhandling in mixed reality drills using any hockey stick and an off-ice puck. For example, in one drill, the user stands in a box and moves a puck with their hockey stick to hit moving targets &#8212; and avoid obstacles &#8212; as they hurdle towards them in VR.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph technology \">Sense Arena, which first launched its hockey platform in 2018, is now used by five NHL teams, 17 college programs and several individual pros, including Kraken G Joey Daccord and Minnesota Frost F Taylor Heise. The system has also been used by more than 450K consumers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph technology \">The NHLPA did not make a representative available for an interview, but its CCO, Steve Scebelo, said in a prepared statement that the partnership with Sense Arena represents \u201can exciting opportunity to bring fans closer to the incredible talent of NHL players.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"NHL Sense Arena '26 will include the likenesses of more than 700 NHL players.\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/LWAZJ5UIONC4TOOKBWFJERLVME.png\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/>NHL Sense Arena &#8217;26 will include the likenesses of more than 700 NHL players.
