Furner\/Beachport\u2029<\/p>\n<p>After a bye and a wash-out, Mount Burr opened their 2025\/26 season in the Millicent\/Naracoorte Cricket Association on Saturday with a dominant win at home over Furner\/Beachport.\u2029<\/p>\n<p>Batting first, Mount Burr posted 7\/162, led by Marcus McGrath with a classy 54 not out on debut.\u2029<\/p>\n<p>The former Glencoe player looked at ease at the crease and displayed an array of shots on both sides of the wicket in his run-a-ball half century.\u2029<\/p>\n<p>He received great support from acting skipper Jack Francis (22), Taylor Allen (15) and veterans Adrian Thompson (10 not out) and Nathan Muhovics (19).\u2029<\/p>\n<p>Extras contributed a hefty 33 runs to Mount Burr\u2019s tally of 7\/162 while Finley Maccoll took the bowling honours with 3\/21.\u2029<\/p>\n<p>In reply, Furner\/Beachport was in trouble early when former Millicent Colts skipper James Watts hit the eighth delivery of the innings on the full to McGrath off the bowling of Thompson for a duck.\u2029<\/p>\n<p>There were three other ducks recorded and the visitors were dismissed for 57 in the 22nd over with Naga Wright (3\/11) and Thompson (3\/25) leading the charge with the ball.\u2029<\/p>\n<p>\u2029Naracoorte \u2013 8\/156 def. Rendelsham 10\/144\u2029<\/p>\n<p>The newly combined Naracoorte side scraped home to victory on their home deck against Rendelsham by a mere 12 runs after the visitors endured three costly run outs and turfed nine chances.\u2029<\/p>\n<p>Having won the toss at Wortley Oval, the home side batted first and reached a defendable tally of 8\/156 off their 40 over allocation.\u2029<\/p>\n<p>They had six batsmen who reached double figures with Brad Redding top-scoring with 35.\u2029<\/p>\n<p>The pick of the Rendelsham bowlers was Varthula De Silva Jayaskera with 3\/24.\u2029<\/p>\n<p>In reply, Rendelsham looked to be cruising to victory at 1\/93.\u2029<\/p>\n<p>Openers Ethan Bowman (42) and Ayden Reid (35) had put their team in a strong position but the visitors then lost their next nine wickets for only 51 runs to be dismissed in the last over for 144.\u2029<\/p>\n<p>No Naracoorte bowler secured more than two wickets so it was the run outs who determined the outcome.\u2029<\/p>\n<p>Home team wicketkeeper Loren Bald had a productive game with three catches and a run out.\u2029<\/p>\n<p>\u2029Lucindale 3\/108 def. Kingston 10\/104\u2029<\/p>\n<p>Reigning premiers Lucindale had little trouble in disposing of Kingston at home.\u2029<\/p>\n<p>The visitors won the toss but were bundled out in the 28th over for only 104.\u2029<\/p>\n<p>Five Kingston batsmen reached double figures but only Liam Sibley pushed onwards to top score with 37.\u2029<\/p>\n<p>Four Lucindale players took two wickets apiece.\u2029<\/p>\n<p>In reply, Lucindale opener Mark Smith made a quickfire half century.\u2029<\/p>\n<p>His unbeaten 56 included a six and seven fours.\u2029<\/p>\n<p>The target was reached on the first ball of the 23rd over.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Mount Burr 7\/162 def.
