{"id":264775,"date":"2025-11-05T17:45:44","date_gmt":"2025-11-05T17:45:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/264775\/"},"modified":"2025-11-05T17:45:44","modified_gmt":"2025-11-05T17:45:44","slug":"proud-moment-for-fermanagh-business-at-cross-border-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/264775\/","title":{"rendered":"Proud moment for Fermanagh business at cross-Border awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Declan McDonald started ACEL Energy alongside Barry Sherry from Monaghan and they were honoured at the inaugural Stelios Foundation North-South Business Cooperation Awards that were held in Castle Leslie Estate in Monaghan.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The award ceremony recognised the contributions of companies to economic activity and skilled employment on both sides of the border and across the entire island.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  ACEL Energy has emerged as one of the region\u2019s biggest growing providers of commercial renewable energy solutions and operates across both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.impartialreporter.com\/local-news\/northern-ireland-news\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Northern Ireland<\/a> and the Republic of Ireland and were rewarded with the Silver Award at the ceremony.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The company delivers solar PV systems, battery energy storage projects, demand flexibility programmes, grid support works and long-term maintenance services for business customers.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Their work includes a first of its kind solar development at Shannon Airport as well as projects for Americold Ireland in both Lurgan and Monaghan and a ground mount solar project at Hydebank College in Belfast.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It has also played a key role in supporting operational and maintenance activity across several installations in Northern Ireland and is continuing to expand its delivery capacity in the commercial and industrial markets.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, the easyJet founder who created the awards, praised the company and others for their work in creating economic links between communities north and south of the Border.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Reflecting on the achievement, Declan McDonald said: \u201cBeing recognised at this level is a proud moment for everyone involved.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cWe are committed to building specialised energy skills here at home, with opportunities for people who want to work in a growing sector.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The company has now revealed plans to allocate part of its \u20ac100,000 prize to funding education initiatives that promote the understanding of renewable technology.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  That will include a school programme linking classrooms on either side of the Border, and it also intends on expanding its workforce with further project announcements expected early next year.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Co-founder Barry Sherry added: \u201cThis award belongs to our team, our suppliers and our clients.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThe renewable sector is moving quickly, and our focus is on delivering high-quality commercial projects and supporting businesses to take control of their energy use.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The winners of the awards were selected by Sir Stelios.
