Townsville is welcoming US country-rap artist Jelly Roll with street and body art ahead of his largest Australian stadium concert.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The North Queensland city of Townsville will tonight host the star singer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jelly Roll and his redemption story have captivated the regional community, which is celebrating his concert with street art, baked sweets and even tattoos.<\/p>\n

Artists Lavinia Letheby and Amanda Sadler worked through three nights from Halloween to create a mural in honour of Jelly Roll.<\/p>\n

“We’re super excited to welcome him here to Townsville,” Ms Letheby said.<\/p>\n

The muralist also painted pop singer P!nk to celebrate her 2024<\/a> concert in Townsville.<\/p>\n

International artists have increasingly visited the city since the 2020 opening of the new North Queensland Cowboys home stadium.<\/p>\n

“Doing these murals celebrates these big-name artists coming to Townsville,” Ms Letheby said.<\/p>\n

“The flow-on effect for the whole town is just incredible.”\"A<\/p>\n

Small businesses are making the most of the excitement with local bakeries selling jelly rolls and other themed sweets.<\/p>\n

Music lovers who are fans of the singer himself are also getting inked by Townsville tattoo artist Alex Aguilera.<\/p>\n

The tattooist and fan has created a series of Jelly Roll themed designs.<\/p>\n

“I’ve already tattooed minimum 50 people [and] I have quite a few people booked in,” Ms Aguilera said.<\/p>\n

“It is cool to see people excited here \u2014 the excitement is contagious.<\/p>\n

“It has given me the opportunity to meet new clients.”<\/p>\n

Stadium venue manager Cameron Jones said the Thursday night concert, which would feature other country artists including Shaboozy, would be Jelly Roll’s largest headline stadium show in Australia.<\/p>\n

“We couldn’t be more excited, tickets sales are strong and we’re trending towards at least 20,000 [people],” Mr Jones said.<\/p>\n

“Sent up from the south, we have a 48-metre top secret stage, we’re dressing the venue like we’ve never seen before.<\/p>\n

“Jelly Roll will be taking the stage later [in the] evening and he’s excited: it’s his biggest headline stadium show in Australia.”<\/p>\n
