{"id":265862,"date":"2025-11-06T05:44:11","date_gmt":"2025-11-06T05:44:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/265862\/"},"modified":"2025-11-06T05:44:11","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T05:44:11","slug":"fans-allowed-to-keep-cricket-balls-hit-into-crowd-during-first-over-of-wbbl-and-bbl-games-big-bash-league-westpac","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/265862\/","title":{"rendered":"Fans allowed to keep cricket balls hit into crowd during first over of WBBL and BBL games, Big Bash League, Westpac"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cricket fans will have yet another reason to cheer during the opening over of every Big Bash innings this summer, with Cricket Australia introducing a rule that will allow fans to keep a match-day ball.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.codesports.com.au\/cricket\/bbl\/keep-the-ball-bbl-and-wbbl-to-implement-baseball-crowd-catch-rule-this-summer\/news-story\/7064886eda0ebf17dd5506e854e83a66\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">CODE Sports\u2019 Daniel Cherny revealed<\/a> on Thursday afternoon that as of this weekend\u2019s WBBL season-opener, any ball hit for four or six during the first over of an innings can be claimed by a spectator as their own. <\/p>\n<p>A brand-new ball will then be used from the start of the second over, regardless of whether or not a ball is claimed by a member of the crowd.
