{"id":266876,"date":"2025-11-06T16:29:09","date_gmt":"2025-11-06T16:29:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/266876\/"},"modified":"2025-11-06T16:29:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T16:29:09","slug":"nicolo-bulega-superbike-a-better-school-for-motogp-than-moto2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/266876\/","title":{"rendered":"Nicolo Bulega: \u201cSuperbike a better school for MotoGP than Moto2\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nicolo Bulega believes WorldSBK provides \u201cbetter preparation\u201d for MotoGP than the Moto2 class, despite the \u201cincredible difference\u201d between production-based superbikes and grand prix prototypes.<\/p>\n<p>Bulega, who makes his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MotoGP<\/a> debut this weekend at Portimao in place of injured world champion Marc Marquez at the factory Ducati team, has raced in both categories.<\/p>\n<p>The Italian spent three difficult years in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/moto2\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Moto2<\/a> before rebooting his career in the World Supersport Championship, where he claimed the 2023 title.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That led to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/wsbk\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WorldSBK <\/a>promotion with Ducati, where he has finished runner-up to Toprak Razgatlioglu and BMW for the past two seasons.<\/p>\n<p>Razgatlioglu is joining MotoGP with Pramac Yamaha in 2026, before which Bulega will make his debut in the Portimao and Valencia rounds.<\/p>\n<p>But with fewer than 30 laps on a Desmosedici during a damp test at Jerez, Bulega admitted the premier class represents a major leap.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think there is not one special thing different, but a little bit of everything: Carbon brakes, ride height device, the engine is faster, also the chassis and tyres. If you put all together, it&#8217;s an incredible difference,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/wsbk\/racer\/1043899\/nicolo-bulega\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bulega<\/a> told the official MotoGP website.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the highest level of bikes, so I will have to study a lot also in the garage these two weekends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/1452\/jack-miller\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jack Miller<\/a> is the only rider on the present MotoGP grid not to have raced in the Moto2 class.<\/p>\n<p>That will change next season when Razgatlioglu steps across from WorldSBK to join the Australian at Pramac Yamaha.<\/p>\n<p>Bulega argued that WorldSBK offers a closer match to MotoGP machinery than the 765cc Triumph-powered Moto2 class.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think Superbike is very good for teaching you a lot of things, to prepare you for MotoGP,\u201d Bulega said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it&#8217;s better than Moto2 for preparing you for MotoGP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause in Superbike you have much more electronics.
