But pharmaceutical executives are pushing the government to go further.<\/p>\n<p>American drugmaker Eli Lilly said on Monday that it wants to see more changes to Britain\u2019s medicine market before it pivots on its abandoned \u00a3279 million investment in a biotech incubator project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think we have heard enough to say that we are willing to get the Lilly Gateway Lab started,\u201d Patrik Jonsson, president of Lilly\u2019s international business, which covers all markets outside the U.S., <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/britains-plan-raise-nhs-drug-prices-wont-bring-back-us-pharma-lilly-investment\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">told POLITICO<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The focus of talks has turned to the government\u2019s \u201cclawback\u201d system, where firms have to pay back part of their revenue if the total amount the NHS spends on drugs rises above a certain cap.
