{"id":267139,"date":"2025-11-06T19:09:07","date_gmt":"2025-11-06T19:09:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/267139\/"},"modified":"2025-11-06T19:09:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T19:09:07","slug":"joan-mir-subconsciously-we-are-able-to-give-more-after-honda-motogp-turnaround","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/267139\/","title":{"rendered":"Joan Mir: \u201cSubconsciously we are able to give more\u201d after Honda MotoGP turnaround"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After bookending the flyaway races with his first Honda MotoGP podiums, Joan Mir heads back to Europe with confidence and expectations higher than ever.<\/p>\n<p>The 2020 world champion cast off three and a half difficult years at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/teams\/repsol-honda-team\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Honda<\/a> with his first rostrums since leaving Suzuki, courtesy of third places at Motegi and last time out in Malaysia.<\/p>\n<p>On paper, he believes this weekend\u2019s Portimao event should be even more favourable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will see, but it\u2019s true that expectations for this track are normally a bit higher than in Sepang,\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/911973\/joan-mir\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Mir <\/a>said on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSepang, historically, is a track where we struggle and we could make a good weekend there. So why not here?\u201d<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>Mir took his final Suzuki podium at the undulating Portuguese circuit in 2021 and was Honda\u2019s top finisher, in 12th, at last year\u2019s March event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s a special track. A lot of blind corners. You need a lot of confidence to ride here,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>And that confidence is finally returning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur confidence is at the best level possible this season. Now it&#8217;s important to try to find consistency. We are fast, but we need to find that consistency. It&#8217;s not possible to attack at 120% all the race.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have to work on that, to be a little more calm and ride with a bit more margin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, fans have enjoyed seeing Mir force the RC213V to its limits.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you have the option of fighting for something that is worth it, you always give something more,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it&#8217;s subconsciously something that is happening to us at the moment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are able to give something more because we are in a good mood.
