{"id":267596,"date":"2025-11-06T23:42:09","date_gmt":"2025-11-06T23:42:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/267596\/"},"modified":"2025-11-06T23:42:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T23:42:09","slug":"marc-leishman-chooses-pro-am-partner-for-special-vic-pga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/267596\/","title":{"rendered":"Marc Leishman chooses pro-am partner for &#8216;special&#8217; Vic PGA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Victorian golf fans will have an extra reason to smile this summer with six-time PGA TOUR winner Marc Leishman to tee it up at the 2025 Vic PGA Championship \u2013 and he\u2019ll be joined by a very special playing partner.<\/p>\n<p>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.australiangolfdigest.com.au\/hes-back-leishman-locked-in-for-aus-open-pga-champs-and-a-state-open-no-one-saw-coming\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marc Leishman locked in for Aus Open, PGA Championship and a state Open no one saw coming<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The popular Australian will compete in the Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia tournament at Moonah Links on the Mornington Peninsula from December 11-14, with his son Harvey making it a family double as his pro-am partner.<\/p>\n<p>Leishman, who was a winner on LIV Golf this year and equal third in last month\u2019s Nexus Advisernet Bowra &amp; O\u2019Dea WA Open, said the chance to play close to home and share the week with his eldest son made it an easy decision to return to the Vic PGA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will be a special week at Moonah Links. As a Victorian professional, it\u2019s great to be in my home state and playing in the Vic PGA for the first time in many years, but I also have the chance to do it with Harvey alongside as my pro-am partner,\u201d Leishman said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s going to be a first for us and we\u2019re both really looking forward to getting out there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHarvey loves the game and I\u2019m sure he will want us to do well. But the main thing will be enjoying the experience of being out on a couple of our best courses and being part of a Tour event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have fond memories of winning the 2008 Vic PGA and I\u2019ll be trying to win the 2025 edition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Vic PGA will again be played in the pro-am format across both the Legends and Open courses at Moonah Links, giving fans a rare opportunity to see some of the country\u2019s leading professionals, rising local talents and a range of celebrity golfers up close.<\/p>\n<p>The pro-am teams all play the first 36 holes with the top 25 teams advancing to Saturday\u2019s play and then the leading eight to Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia General Manager of Tournaments and Global Tour Relationships Nick Dastey said Leishman\u2019s appearance would give the Vic PGA an extra level of excitement and connection for spectators.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMarc is one of Australia\u2019s most respected professionals and a great ambassador for the game both here and overseas,\u201d Dastey said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving him back at the Vic PGA is fantastic for Victorian golf fans, and the fact he\u2019s bringing Harvey along to share the experience makes it even more special.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>By playing in his fourth Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia event over the summer, Leishman will become eligible for a final ranking in this season\u2019s Order of Merit.<\/p>\n<p>He is currently sitting in 26th position with the BMW Australian PGA Championship, men\u2019s Australian Open and Vic PGA to come on his 2025 schedule.<\/p>\n<p>The entry list for this year\u2019s Vic PGA also includes Webex Players Series SA champion Matias Sanchez, NT PGA winner Andrew Martin and former Vic Open champion Brett Coletta.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Victorian golf fans will have an extra reason to smile this summer with six-time PGA TOUR winner Marc&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":267597,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[566],"tags":[64,63,755,85],"class_list":{"0":"post-267596","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-golf","8":"tag-au","9":"tag-australia","10":"tag-golf","11":"tag-sports"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/267596","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=267596"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/267596\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/267597"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=267596"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=267596"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=267596"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
