North Melbourne have added former Richmond and Carlton ruckman Shaun Hampson<\/a> and ex-Gold Coast forward Darcy Macpherson to their coaching group for next year.<\/p>\n

Hampson, who played 98 AFL<\/a> games across stints with the Blues and Tigers between 2007 and 2018, arrives at Arden Street after a spell at Richmond as a coach of the club’s AFLW program.<\/p>\n

The 37-year-old also previously held a role with Carlton’s women’s program as a ruck coach.<\/p>\n

Macpherson, already a member of the Roos’ VFL squad, will step into a development coaching role alongside Hampson from this pre-season.<\/p>\n

The former Sun is captain of North Melbourne’s reserves, who he joined this year after nine years and 97 games with Gold Coast.<\/p>\n

“Shaun is a proven AFLW coach and will integrate seamlessly into our program, especially considering we have some really promising developing tall players,” Roos football boss Todd Viney said.<\/p>\n

“Darcy knows many of our players well and has plenty to offer after his experience in the AFL<\/a> system and an impressive 12 months within our VFL program.<\/p>\n

“We’re looking forward to the fresh perspectives they will both bring to the coaching group.”<\/p>\n

The pair join former Port Adelaide and St Kilda defender Jarrod Lienert<\/a> as development coaches with the Roos as part of Alastair Clarkson’s group.<\/p>\n

North Melbourne have finalised their coaching team for 2026, listing Xavier Clarke (forwards), Michael Barlow<\/a> (midfield) and Jed Adcock<\/a> (defence) as line assistants, with the recent addition of Zane Littlejohn from Box Hill filling the role of strategy assistant.<\/p>\n
