An Indonesian artist has turned the iconic Volkswagen Beetle into a spherical sculpture.<\/p>\n

Ichwan Noor is the visionary in question.<\/p>\n

The artist is famed for taking large objects and morphing them into pieces of art.<\/p>\n

And the artist turned the well-known car into a masterpiece.<\/p>\n

Indonesian artist puts unique twist on Volkswagen Beetle<\/p>\n

Car<\/a> art is a very unique and interesting part of the automotive industry.<\/p>\n

And we have seen so many different takes on vehicles being used as art.<\/p>\n

For example, we have seen a $135,000 Lamborghini Gallardo<\/a> that was scratched to pieces.<\/p>\n

It was then housed in a museum in Denmark as part of an art exhibition.<\/p>\n

But this example of car art could not be more different if it tried.<\/p>\n

Indonesian artist Ichwan Noor is the man responsible for the creation at hand.<\/p>\n

Before you start panicking \u2013 no Volkswagen Beetles were harmed in the making of this art.<\/p>\n

Back in 2015, Noor made a replica of the Beetle\u2019s body in polyurethane.<\/p>\n

It was then cast in aluminum, and car parts were eventually added to the sculpture.<\/p>\n

So, what was Noor\u2019s inspiration for such a unique project?<\/p>\n

The inspiration for the project emerged from how people perceive objects of the \u2018transportation culture\u2019.<\/p>\n

Noor, a Yogyakarta-based artist, explained his vision for the project.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo behold a vehicle is to have a magical identity.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy combining the techniques of manipulation and substitution, the form of this sculpture tends toward realistic distortion, which allows new interpretations about the object [car], as a shift in perception that creates an associative meaning.\u201d<\/p>\n

The project certainly achieves the aim of distorting reality and perception, that\u2019s for sure.<\/p>\n

At this point, you might be wondering \u2013 where were the sculptures displayed?<\/p>\n

Well, Noor\u2019s Beetle Series of sculptures was actually displayed in Australia.<\/p>\n

The project was put on display at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) in Melbourne.<\/p>\n
