{"id":27130,"date":"2025-07-28T09:27:14","date_gmt":"2025-07-28T09:27:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/27130\/"},"modified":"2025-07-28T09:27:14","modified_gmt":"2025-07-28T09:27:14","slug":"spacex-launches-24-satellites-to-polar-areas-to-boost-internet-access","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/27130\/","title":{"rendered":"SpaceX launches 24 satellites to polar areas to boost Internet access"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>July 27 (UPI) &#8212; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upi.com\/topic\/SpaceX\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"SpaceX\" class=\"tpstyle\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">SpaceX<\/a> launched a Falcon 9 rocket Saturday night from Vandenberg Space Force Base near Lompoc, Calif.<\/p>\n<p>The mission put <a href=\"https:\/\/spaceflightnow.com\/2025\/07\/26\/live-coverage-spacex-to-launch-24-starlink-satellites-on-falcon-9-rocket-from-vandenberg-sfb\/#:~:text=Starlink%2017%2D2%20mission\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">24 Starlink satellites<\/a> into low-Earth orbit. It will deploy the satellites into a polar orbit to <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SpaceX\/status\/1949359325451112662?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">boost internet service<\/a> in polar regions.\n<\/p>\n<p>The Starlink 17-2 mission launched from Space Launch Complex 4 East at 9:31 p.m. PDT.<\/p>\n<p>The Falcon 9 ship with tail number B1075 took its 19th trip to space, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spacex.com\/launches\/sl-17-2#:~:text=16%20Starlink%20missions.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">16 Starlink missions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>About 8 1\/2 minutes after liftoff, the ship landed on the droneship &#8220;Of Course I Still Love You,&#8221; in the Pacific Ocean.<\/p>\n<p>It was the 142nd landing for this vessel and the 481st booster landing for SpaceX.<\/p>\n<p>There are more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upi.com\/Science_News\/2025\/07\/26\/FL-SpaceX-launched-28-Starlink-satellites\/8151753535046\/#:~:text=8%2C000%20Starlink%20satellites\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">8,000 Starlink satellites<\/a> in orbit, according to astronomer Jonathan McDowell.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, Starlink users reported a rare full network outage of Internet service. It began at 4 p.m. About 2 1\/2 hours later, SpaceX announced most service had been restored.
