{"id":27198,"date":"2025-07-28T10:06:07","date_gmt":"2025-07-28T10:06:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/27198\/"},"modified":"2025-07-28T10:06:07","modified_gmt":"2025-07-28T10:06:07","slug":"intel-spins-off-network-and-edge-computing-groups-in-latest-major-company-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/27198\/","title":{"rendered":"Intel spins off Network and Edge computing groups in latest major company change"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Intel is looking for buyers of its Networking and Edge GroupThese areas accounted for 11% of Intel&#8217;s total 2024 revenueThe move comes as Intel layoffs continue to hit its workforce<\/p>\n<p><a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.techradar.com\/tag\/intel\" data-auto-tag-linker=\"true\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.techradar.com\/tag\/intel\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Intel<\/a> is planning to spin off its engine Networking and Edge Group as part of an ongoing company-wide effort to boost profitability.<\/p>\n<p>The news was confirmed in an internal memo seen by <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.crn.com\/news\/networking\/2025\/intel-reveals-plan-to-spin-off-networking-business-in-memo\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.crn.com\/news\/networking\/2025\/intel-reveals-plan-to-spin-off-networking-business-in-memo\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">CRN<\/a>, authored by Sachin Katti, who has held a number of roles in Intel&#8217;s Networking and Edge Group (NEX), including SVP, GM and CTO.<\/p>\n<p>Although NEX will be spun off, Intel is set to remain a key investor, similar to its previous approach with Altera. That is, of course, if Intel is successful in finding a buyer.<\/p>\n<p>You may like<\/p>\n<p>Intel will spin off its Networking and Edge Group<\/p>\n<p>An Intel spokesperson confirmed (via CRN): &#8220;We plan to establish key elements of our Networking and Communications business as a stand-alone company&#8230; Like Altera, we will remain an anchor investor enabling us to benefit from future upside as we position the business for future growth.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>However, the company remains in the early stages of identifying potential investors.<\/p>\n<p>In 2024, NEX generated around $5.8 billion in revenue for Intel, around 11% of the company&#8217;s $53.1 billion in total annual revenue.<\/p>\n<p>The move is the latets drastic action undertaking under the direction of new Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan, who promised big changes when he came on board earlier in 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"newsletter-form__strapline\">Sign up to the TechRadar Pro newsletter to get all the top news, opinion, features and guidance your business needs to succeed!<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Intel was once widely seen as the world\u2019s most innovative company.
