A man accused of sexually assaulting a young boy has been found dead in his prison cell.<\/p>\n

John Bell, 44, was remanded in custody in HMP Inverness, Scotland when prison officers found his body on November 8.<\/p>\n

Mr Bell was arrested after he allegedly attacked an eight-year-old boy who was on a camping trip at Loch Ness Bay near Drumnadrochit.<\/p>\n

The boy was alone in a tent when the alleged assault took place on July 31 at about 1am.<\/p>\n

His father woke up after hearing distressed cries and witnessed the alleged attacker run away into the woods.<\/p>\n

A manhunt eventually led to the capture of Mr Bell, who was charged on September 1.<\/p>\n

He had not entered any plea before his death.<\/p>\n

Police have launched a probe into the circumstances of his death, which is thought to be a suicide. Further, a fatal accident inquiry will be held, The Sun<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n

A prison service spokesperson said Mr Bell\u2019s death was a tragedy.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery death, whether in prison custody or in our communities, is a tragedy for all those who knew and supported the individual,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

\u201cFollowing the death of someone in our care, Police Scotland are advised, and the matter reported to the Procurator Fiscal.<\/p>\n

\u201cFatal Accident Inquiries are held in due course.\u201d<\/p>\n

This comes after three prison inmates were arrested over the death of a child killer.<\/p>\n

Police were called to HMP Wakefield prison in West Yorkshire at 8.25am on Wednesday morning following a report of an inmate\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

The man was identified as Kyle Bevan, 33, who had been jailed for the murder of his partner\u2019s two-year-old daughter Lola James in 2020.<\/p>\n

West Yorkshire police said Bevan\u2019s death is being treated as \u201csuspicious\u201d and investigations are underway to uncover the complete circumstances of the incident.<\/p>\n

In a statement, police said three male prisoners have been arrested on suspicion of murder.<\/p>\n

No further information about the incident or the identities of the inmates has been made available.<\/p>\n
