SAN DIEGO, Calif. \u2014 Pepperdine women’s tennis sophomore Alexia Harmon<\/a> earned a pair of singles victories at ITA Conference Masters this week in San Diego.<\/p>\n The tournament consisted of each NCAA automatic qualification eligible Division I conference having one singles player and one doubles team from each gender participating in the event. Four singles and three doubles automatic qualifications into the NCAA Championships were awarded at the end of the tournament.<\/p>\n The Waves represented the West Coast Conference in both singles and doubles at the tournament, with Harmon pairing with Anastasiia Grechkina<\/a> in the doubles draw while contesting the singles draw. Grechkina earned her bid to the NCAA Singles Championship earlier this fall at\u00a0ITA Southwest Regionals.<\/p>\n Harmon began the week in the round of 32 with a two-set win (6-4, 6-2) over Oakland’s Martyna Piechowicz. Returning later in the same day Thursday, Harmon took down Bryant’s Yahli Noy (6-4, 6-1) in the round of 16.<\/p>\n Matching up with Cal’s No. 17 Mao Mushika in the quarterfinals, Harmon fell in two sets, ending her run one victory shy of the automatic bid to NCAAs. In the doubles draw, the Waves fell in a super tiebreak against Furman after each winning a set.<\/p>\n The full results for the tournament can be viewed here<\/a>.<\/p>\n Doubles Singles The fall season will conclude at the NCAA Singles Championship held in Orlando from Nov. 18-23, as Grechkina\u00a0will contest the singles draw and play for an individual national title.<\/p>\n ABOUT PEPPERDINE WOMEN’S TENNIS

\nPepperdine women’s tennis has been a consistent powerhouse in the collegiate scene, reaching 40 NCAA Tournaments since 1982 including 28 straight appearances. Since 2018, the program has seen three national runner-ups between both singles and doubles while reaching an NCAA Regional as a team eight times in the past nine tournaments. The success at the conference level has been paramount with 33 WCC Championships including an active streak of 11 consecutive conference titles. With its 24 total All-Americans, the program has also consistently sent players to the pro circuit following their time in Malibu.
