{"id":273683,"date":"2025-11-09T17:44:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-09T17:44:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/273683\/"},"modified":"2025-11-09T17:44:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-09T17:44:08","slug":"pecco-bagnaia-crashing-out-of-fourth-in-portugal-motogp-better-than-from-last","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/273683\/","title":{"rendered":"Pecco Bagnaia: Crashing out of fourth in Portugal MotoGP \u201cbetter\u201d than from last"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ducati\u2019s Pecco Bagnaia says it is \u201cbetter\u201d to crash while pushing in fourth than from further down, as in recent races, following his early exit from the MotoGP Portuguese Grand Prix.<\/p>\n<p>The factory <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/teams\/ducati-lenovo-team\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ducati<\/a> star suffered a disappointing weekend at Portimao, as he slumped to eighth in the sprint, before being quickly dropped out of the podium battle in Sunday\u2019s grand prix.<\/p>\n<p>While running in fourth, some three seconds from the podium, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/911999\/francesco-bagnaia\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pecco Bagnaia<\/a> crashed on lap 11 of 25 to register his fourth successive grand prix DNF.<\/p>\n<p>Bagnaia says the crash came as a result of him pushing to close the gap to third-placed Pedro Acosta, though he believes it was \u201ca better weekend\u201d overall in terms of his feeling on the GP25.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was pushing hard to secure the fourth position,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a bit too soon to be comfortable, so I was pushing hard, trying to catch back Pedro.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI knew it was tough because they were much faster than me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, I was just trying to do the maximum, and I just crashed because I was pushing. It\u2019s something that can happen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, surely it was a better weekend. The result, more or less, is the same.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe just need to be focused for the last race. And I really want to do a very good weekend there, having a good result.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>Asked if it was good to crash while pushing for a top result, he noted that it was \u201cbetter\u201d than his falls from outside of the top 10 in Australia and Indonesia: \u201cHonestly, I wasn\u2019t in the podium fight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut surely it\u2019s better like this than in Phillip Island or Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, we try to continue working like that. I think we are doing a good job, even if the speed is not there.
