{"id":274016,"date":"2025-11-09T21:19:07","date_gmt":"2025-11-09T21:19:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/274016\/"},"modified":"2025-11-09T21:19:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-09T21:19:07","slug":"max-verstappen-hails-red-bulls-never-give-up-attitude-after-podium-recovery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/274016\/","title":{"rendered":"Max Verstappen hails Red Bull\u2019s \u201cnever give up\u201d attitude after podium recovery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">Max Verstappen has credited Red Bull\u2019s winning mentality for his remarkable recovery to the podium after starting from the pit lane at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Verstappen finished third at Interlagos on Sunday, becoming the first driver since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/f1\/racer\/9\/lewis-hamilton\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lewis Hamilton<\/a> in 2014 to finish on the podium after starting an F1 Grand Prix from the pits.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">After his first Q1 exit since Russia 2021, Red Bull elected to take Verstappen out of parc ferm\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">This decision allowed Red Bull to give Verstappen a fresh power unit, which will benefit him for the rest of the season, and make radical setup changes to improve his car\u2019s handling.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">It paid off as Verstappen displayed lightning pace, carving his way through the field.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Even with a puncture early on, Verstappen recovered to finish on the podium, within one second of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/f1\/racer\/1043641\/andrea-kimi-antonelli\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Kimi Antonelli <\/a>in P2.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Speaking after the race to Sky Sports, Verstappen hailed Red Bull\u2019s attitude of always seeking improvements &#8211; and taking risks.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cAfterwards it\u2019s easy to say. I think what I like is that yes, it\u2019s been difficult for us but the team never gives up,\u201d Verstappen said.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe always want to be better. We don\u2019t settle for second as otherwise you can easily say after the sprint \u2018let\u2019s not touch the car, we\u2019re not too bad, let\u2019s not risk it\u2019. I don\u2019t think that\u2019s the penalty of the team.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe always want to try and find more performance. That didn\u2019t work out in qualifying but it did allow us to change the car again and make it a lot more competitive today.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe have to be aware that today is a bit colder. It probably helped us a little bit but overall, to come from the pit lane all the way to the podium, 10, 11 seconds off the lead, with a puncture as well, I think it\u2019s an incredible result for us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Verstappen on F1 title chances<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">With <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/f1\/racer\/912058\/lando-norris\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lando Norris<\/a> winning the race, Verstappen is 49 points off the lead with three rounds and one sprint race to go.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Verstappen conceded that he lost \u201ctoo many points\u201d at the beginning of the season.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The four-time world champion is hopeful that he can end the season on a high with a couple more victories.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe already lost too many points from the beginning of the season to the middle of the season,\u201d Verstappen added.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe were in that up until that now already was a surprise. We have to be realistic.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI think over the whole season we\u2019ve not been good enough but we will still try everything we can until the end of the season to score some highlights and try to win races.
