\n\tSky Italy entertainment channels senior director\u00a0Roberto Pisoni<\/a> has stepped down from his role at the Comcast-owned pay-TV service. Pisoni is joining Italy\u2019s expanding I Wonder Pictures<\/a>, which is ramping up its production side and introducing AI into its creative and production process.<\/p>\n

\n\tPisoni \u2013 who has had a long career at Sky Italy since its 2003 launch \u2013 will now spearhead I Wonder\u2019s content creation expansion as VP of AI innovation, content and new media development at the Bologna-based company.<\/p>\n

\n\tHe will report to I Wonder\u2019s founder and CEO Andrea Romeo<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn recent years, I Wonder Pictures has emerged as one of the leading distribution players in Italy, thanks to a smart mix of arthouse and more mainstream movies, working with titles from both A24 and Neon among other companies. I Wonder\u2019s recent releases include \u201cThe Voice of Hind Rajab,\u201d \u201cThe Substance,\u201d \u201cTogether,\u201d \u201cEverything Everywhere All at Once,\u201d \u201cThe Whale\u201d and \u201cThe Zone of Interest.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe company has also gradually expanded its business model beyond traditional theatrical distribution by launching the Iwonderfull and Top Doc\u00a0streaming platforms.<\/p>\n

\n\tPisoni\u2019s appointment is part of Romeo\u2019s plan to bolster the company\u2019s organizational structure \u201cin a phase of growth that involves production, distribution and the development of new spaces and narrative models in an integrated perspective,\u201d according to a statement.<\/p>\n

\n\tPisoni will be responsible for coordinating the launch of a new unit within I Wonder called Top Contents and for leading the curation of the Iwonderfull and Top Doc platforms, as well as spearheading the adoption of \u201cnarrative and productive models that integrate cinema, documentary filmmaking, new media and processes of experimentation, including through a conscious use of artificial intelligence in the creative and productive chain,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn this new setup at I Wonder Pictures, Giulia Moretti and Giorgia Fassiano, who are in charge respectively of the company\u2019s production unit and the editorial curation of its channels, \u201cwill continue to play a key role in the work of developing, coordinating and managing projects,\u201d the statement noted.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cOur work is founded on a specific cultural vision, which must be protected and remain evident in every editorial and organizational decision,\u201d said Romeo. \u201cRoberto\u2019s arrival allows us to give this vision a more stable shared form.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCommented Pisoni: \u201cI Wonder Pictures today represents a space for research and dialogue with the public that is rare in Italy. My job will be to translate this identity into method, both in production and in editorial curation and the development of new formats.\u201d<\/p>\n
