The New York Mets reportedly are mulling the idea of trading one of their starting pitchers. <\/p>\n
Per The Athletic’s Will Sammon<\/a>, the Mets have had trade discussions about their starting pitchers, including Kodai Senga. Sammon noted that “Senga is attracting trade interest from multiple teams.”<\/p>\n According to Sammon, teams view Senga “as an interesting buy-low candidate” after a rough 2025 season that featured an injury.<\/p>\n Senga 6-3 record to go along with a 1.59 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 65 strikeouts in 68 innings, with a 2.4 WAR through the first few months of the season, but suffered a hamstring injury in June and was sidelined for nearly a month.<\/p>\n He struggled following his return in July and finished the 2025 campaign with a 7-6 record behind a 3.02 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP.<\/p>\n In September, amid his struggles, the Mets optioned\u00a0Senga to Triple-A<\/a>. He was eligible to return to the majors later that month, but\u00a0told manager Carlos Mendoza<\/a>\u00a0that he wasn’t quite ready. He ultimately closed out the season in the minors.<\/p>\n At his best, Senga is a valuable piece of the Mets’ rotation, but his struggles to close out the season played a part in New York’s postseason absence. If the Mets feel confident in Senga turning things around, they might opt to hold on to him.<\/p>\n If not, he’s a relatively affordable option, and New York should have plenty of trade suitors.
