Bradford Bulls have signed former NRL full-back Caleb Aekins. The now 27-year-old made his professional debut with Penrith Panthers in 2018 and has also represented Canberra Raiders in Australia\u2019s premier competition.<\/p>\n
Aekins moved to the UK with Leigh in 2022. He scored 21 tries in their promotion season from 32 appearances.<\/p>\n
The Kiwi, who has Welsh heritage and has played for Wales on the international stage, then moved to Featherstone Rovers and has spent the last three seasons with the West Yorkshire club, scoring 44 tries in 82 games.<\/p>\n
The player is the latest in an extensive recruitment drive from Bradford following their promotion to Super League, joining the likes of Jayden Nikorima, Ethan Ryan, Connor Wynne, and the like.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am really happy to be joining the Bulls and I\u2019m grateful for the opportunity,\u201d Aekins said. \u201cObviously it is a very exciting time for everyone involved to be back in Super League and I can\u2019t wait to be a part of such a special chapter in the history of this great club.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to meeting my teammates and the fans; from my games against Bradford, I know how passionate they are.\u201d<\/p>\n
Outlining the players\u2019 qualities, head coach Kurt Haggerty believes the club have done their \u2018homework\u2019, having worked with him before while at Leigh.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cCaleb is another player who shows we\u2019ve been doing our homework. He\u2019s somebody that I tracked for a little bit in my time at Salford.<\/p>\n
\u201cI’ve seen him in particular when he was full-time at Leigh. He’s quick, he’s elusive, and he’s very good in and around the ruck, but he’s also good on the edge of shapes as well.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are a lot of parts of his game that I really like. I’m really looking forward to seeing what Caleb can do in the Bulls shirt.
