Gogglebox fans have discovered that one of this series’ new stars boasts an unlikely celebrity connection, leading some to brand her a nepo-sister.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the show’s new series in September, a string of new pairs were introduced to viewers, with one being the eccentric Lara and her mother-in-law Sara.<\/p>\n

While the pair’s witty exchanges have already amused fans, some were stunned to find out that Lara is the sister of one of British TV’s most beloved stars.<\/p>\n

In fact, Lara’s brother is actually beloved TV adventurer Bear Grylls<\/a>, and she is even responsible for giving her little brother his famous nickname.<\/p>\n

Bear has presented a string of adventure and survival series, and as well as completing feats such as climbing Mount Everest, he also appeared on Netflix<\/a>‘s star-studded show Celebrity Bear Hunt<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lara and Bear’s father\u00a0Sir Michael Grylls, a longtime Conservative MP, was also knighted by the late Queen in 1992.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The sibling connection was uncovered by one fan on TikTok who posted a clip with the caption: ‘Controversial opinion, but it does help to get chosen to go on Gogglebox if your brother is Bear Grylls.’<\/p>\n

Sharing their thoughts, fans commented: ‘Helps to have a showbiz connection’;<\/p>\n

‘Its not what Gogglebox was about’; ‘It\u2019s the same way being related to the Chuckle Brothers helped Sophie and Pete get on the show.’<\/p>\n

It comes after fans of Gogglebox favourites Pete and Sophie Sandiford have been left in shock after learning the siblings’ uncle is children’s television entertainer Paul Chuckle.<\/p>\n

Known formally as Paul Elliott, 77, he appeared on BBC<\/a>\u00a0programme ChuckleVision from\u00a01987 to 2009 with his late brother\u00a0Barry.<\/p>\n

The children’s TV icon shared a throwback photo of himself with Pete and Sophie, both 30, on Instagram on Wednesday as he wished his niece a happy birthday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He captioned the picture: ‘Happy 30th birthday my lovely grand niece Soph \u2026 you were only 24 here. Lots of love from us both [Paul and his wife Sue] xx’<\/p>\n

Sophie replied to the heartfelt post: ‘Thank you uncle Paul and auntie sue\u2764\ufe0f love you both xxxx’<\/p>\n

Pete and Sophie, from Blackpool, have been regulars on Gogglebox since 2018.<\/p>\n

Fans flocked to the comments in disbelief about the duo’s famous uncle.<\/p>\n

They said: ‘My mind is blown!! And now I’m just seeing how much Pete looks like Barry’;<\/p>\n

Wow, I didn’t know they related them 2 siblings are related to Paul chuckle?!’<\/p>\n

‘Imagine Paul chuckle being your family member I would dieeeedd.’ [sic];<\/p>\n

‘Omg I didn’t know you guys were related.’<\/p>\n

Pete and Sophie’s other great uncle, Paul’s brother Barry, died after a battle with cancer at the age of 73 on 5 August 2018.<\/p>\n

Sophie wrote on social media at the time: ‘A truly lovely and funny man to be around. You filled millions of childhoods with laughter and entertainment including mine and Peter’s.<\/p>\n

‘You will be sadly missed by many. Rest in peace Uncle Barry. Lots of love from me, to you.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

Gogglebox airs on Fridays at 9pm on Channel 4.\u00a0<\/p>\n
