Leafs captain and top-line centre Auston Matthews<\/a> left Tuesday\u2019s game in Boston with a lower-body injury and did not return. <\/p>\n

\u201cI really can\u2019t give you guys a timeline or how serious it is right now,\u201d said coach Craig Berube<\/a>. \u201cAnd I\u2019m not sure when he hurt it, to be honest with you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Matthews did get hit hard from behind by Bruins defenceman Nikita Zadorov<\/a> on his final shift in the second period. He fell awkwardly into the boards. There was no call on the play. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s a penalty, personally, but I\u2019m not the referee,\u201d Berube said. \u201cI don\u2019t like it. I don\u2019t like the hit. He\u2019s in a vulnerable position. So, whatever, nothing I can do about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI saw it quick,\u201d said centre John Tavares<\/a>. \u201cPapi\u2019s got his back facing the play so you don\u2019t like seeing anyone get hit on the numbers, and especially our leader and obviously one of the best players in the game and our best player … Obviously, we didn\u2019t like the hit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Matthews continued the shift and initiated a hit on Zadorov before heading to the dressing room. <\/p>\n

Leafs goalie Anthony Stolarz<\/a> sustained an upper-body injury during the first period and did not come out for the second. <\/p>\n

\u201cKind of like a battle at the net and he kind of got a little bit stretched out,\u201d Berube said. \u201cI don\u2019t believe that\u2019s serious. I think he\u2019ll be fine.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stolarz allowed three goals on 11 shots in the opening period. He did not come out to the bench for the second or third period. <\/p>\n

The Leafs host the Los Angeles Kings<\/a> on Thursday. Any chance Stolarz is available for that game? <\/p>\n

\u201cI hope so,\u201d Berube said. \u201cWe\u2019ll see.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dennis Hildeby<\/a> stopped 19 of 21 shots in relief on Tuesday. <\/p>\n

After missing the start of the season for personal reasons, Joseph Woll<\/a> is currently in the American Hockey League on a conditioning stint. He is scheduled to start and play a full game for the Toronto Marlies on Wednesday in Grand Rapids and may join the Leafs later in the week. <\/p>\n

The Leafs are off on Wednesday.
