A public health alert has been issued for people who attended a US country-rap artist’s concert in Brisbane last month after a measles outbreak in Queensland.<\/p>\n
Queensland Health confirmed three cases of measles have been linked to the Jelly Roll concert on Friday, October 24 at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre at Boondall.<\/p>\n
The concertgoers spent time in several locations while unknowingly infectious, including on the Gold Coast and Wide Bay areas.<\/p>\n
The Brisbane concert was one of several legs in Jelly Roll’s first Australian tour which also saw a surprise show added in Townsville for the Sunburnt Country music festival.<\/p>\n
The alert comes days after the rapper cancelled his final show in Auckland, New Zealand due to illness.<\/p>\n

There have been 30 cases of measles in Queensland so far in 2025, which is almost eight times the average for the past five years.<\/p>\n
People who visited these regions or attended the concert are advised to monitor for symptoms that could appear up to three weeks after exposure.<\/p>\n
Queensland’s Chief Health Officer Dr Catherine McDougall has warned symptoms usually occur seven to 18 days after contact with an infected person.<\/p>\n
“If you think you may have the measles, it is important you avoid public spaces and monitor for symptoms,” Dr McDougall said.<\/p>\n
“We’re seeing higher numbers of measles cases not only in Queensland, but across the country.”<\/p>\n

Measles is a highly infectious virus transmitted through coughing or sneezing.<\/p>\n
