Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway<\/a> have reunited in the first teaser trailer for the much-anticipated follow-up to The Devil Wears Prada.<\/p>\n

The Oscar-winning actors are reprising their antagonistic roles for The Devil Wears Prada 2 which is set for release next summer.<\/p>\n

Streep, who was Oscar-nominated for her role of tyrannical magazine editor Miranda Priestly in the original, has not appeared in a film since 2021\u2019s Don\u2019t Look Up. She also recently signed on to star next to Sigourney Weaver in thriller Useful Idiots.<\/p>\n

The pair will be joined by returning cast members Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci with Kenneth Branagh<\/a> joining the cast as Priestly\u2019s new husband. The film will also feature Simone Ashley, Rachel Bloom and Lucy Liu and reported cameos from Lady Gaga and Sydney Sweeney.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The sequel, again directed by David Frankel, will see Priestly dealing with the collapse of the magazine industry, now forced to build bridges with her one-time assistant Emily (Blunt) who is the head of a luxury brand and its advertising spend.<\/p>\n

The original 2006 comedy, based on the novel by Lauren Weisberger, made over $326m at the global box office. It later spawned a West End musical.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we made the first movie, none of us expected the meteoric life that it would have and the impact it would have on people,\u201d Blunt said back in September<\/a>. She added that it also \u201chas deep emotional roots\u201d for her and Tucci who later became her brother-in-law.<\/p>\n

Priestly has been widely perceived to be inspired by Anna Wintour, the former editor-in-chief of Vogue. Wintour recently spoke<\/a> about the original film and Streep\u2019s performance, saying it \u201chad a lot of humour to it. It had a lot of wit. It had Meryl Streep. I mean, it was Emily Blunt<\/a>, [and] they were all amazing. In the end, I thought it was a fair shot\u201d.<\/p>\n

The shoot has attracted the attention of photographers and fans across the globe with locations ranging from Brooklyn to Milan.<\/p>\n

The film also marks a major year for Hathaway who will also appear opposite Michaela Coel in David Lowery\u2019s pop star drama Mother Mary, a film with original music from Charli xcx. The year will also see her star in Colleen Hoover adaptation Verity with Dakota Johnson, sci-fi thriller Flowervale Street with Ewan McGregor and Christopher Nolan\u2019s The Odyssey alongside Tom Holland and Zendaya.<\/p>\n
