Key Scotland<\/a> duo Zander Fagerson<\/a> and Finn Russell<\/a> have been \u201ctraining fully\u201d as they bid to prove their fitness ahead of Sunday\u2019s Test against Argentina<\/a> at Murrayfield.<\/p>\n

Fagerson has not played since early April due to calf and knee problems. The tighthead was not deemed ready to return against New Zealand<\/a> last Saturday, but the Scots\u2019 backroom staff are confident he will be involved for the visit of the Pumas<\/a> or Tonga<\/a> a week later.<\/p>\n

Scrum coach Pieter de Villiers<\/a> said on Wednesday evening: \u201cZander has been training fully, which is fantastic news.<\/p>\n

\u201cTomorrow (Thursday) is obviously our biggest training day. We\u2019ll see how he holds up and then make a decision from there.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re positive that he will make an appearance for us in this tournament at some stage, whether it be this match or the next match.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stand-off Russell was substituted in the 74th minute on Saturday after struggling with a combination of knee and ankle problems.<\/p>\n

\u201cFinn has been training fully as well, so we\u2019re optimistic for him to be available,\u201d said De Villiers. \u201cWe\u2019ll obviously see how the niggles progress. There are still a few days left, but he has trained fully today, so that\u2019s great news.\u201d<\/p>\n

De Villiers is confident the Scots have banished the disappointment of an agonising 25-17 defeat by the All Blacks<\/a> and are primed to deliver a strong performance against an Argentina side who have been above them in the world rankings for the past year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe boys are really fired up and ready to go,\u201d he said. \u201cThey know how well they\u2019ve competed against the number two team in the world. That also brings confidence in that we\u2019ve been physically up there.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow it is important to keep growing. We\u2019re a team that is consistently performing well against top teams, but we also want to see those victories coming now. That\u2019s where we want to continue to grow.<\/p>\n

\u201cArgentina have beaten the All Blacks recently, they\u2019ve beaten the Springboks, they\u2019ve beaten Australia, they\u2019ve beaten many of the top teams.<\/p>\n
