A development application has been submitted to Economic Development Queensland for Stanley Quarter, a major new two-tower project by Sarazin located between Stanley and Trafalgar Streets in Woolloongabba.<\/p>\n

The proposal features two slender residential towers, a 53-level East Tower and a 36-level West Tower, connected by a six-storey podium and a publicly accessible cross-block plaza. The project forms the next stage in Sarazin\u2019s transformation of The Gabba precinct, following the completion of Silk One, directly adjacent.<\/p>\n

If approved, the 53-storey East Tower would rise approximately 190 metres above ground, placing it among the tallest buildings in Brisbane. The tower would stand higher than the city\u2019s once-tallest Central Plaza One at 174 metres, and just five metres shy of One One One Eagle Street, which reaches 195 metres. This would position the proposed tower not only among Brisbane\u2019s most prominent high-rises but also as one of the tallest developments ever proposed outside the traditional CBD core. <\/p>\n

Designed by GroupGSA, Stanley Quarter combines residential living, retail, and cultural space with a landmark public facility known as the STEAMM Gallery and Garden, delivering what the developer describes as a \u201cvillage-within-a-city\u201d concept for the heart of Woolloongabba.<\/p>\n

The 4,332 m\u00b2 site sits within Precinct 2 \u2013 Logan Road of the Woolloongabba Priority Development Area. The site is earmarked for high-density, mixed-use projects that support the area\u2019s evolution into a connected inner-city community surrounding The Gabba Stadium and future Cross River Rail Station.<\/p>\n

Sarazin\u2019s application seeks approval for both Material Change of Use and Reconfiguration of a Lot under the Economic Development Act 2012. The project will be delivered in two stages:<\/p>\n

Stage 1 (West Tower) \u2013 36 levels, 235 apartments, podium and basement construction<\/p>\n

Stage 2 (East Tower) \u2013 53 levels, 212 apartments and the STEAMM Gallery & Garden<\/p>\n

The architectural plans prepared by GroupGSA confirm the East Tower rises to Level 53, reaching RL 188.4 metres, while the West Tower tops out at Level 36 (RL 124.3). Both towers sit atop a six-storey podium designed to foster active frontages and human-scale interfaces.<\/p>\n

The fa\u00e7ades are articulated with vertical fins, glass detailing and dense greenery, reflecting the subtropical architecture principles promoted by EDQ. The podium accommodates retail, dining and commercial tenancies that wrap the ground level, while upper podium levels include resident amenities, car parking and landscaped terraces. Slender tower forms reduce visual bulk and enhance the skyline silhouette when viewed from The Gabba and Stanley Street corridor.<\/p>\n

Central to the project is the 1,160 m\u00b2 public plaza providing a direct pedestrian link between Stanley and Trafalgar Streets. The space integrates retail and dining at its edges, shaded tree canopies and subtropical landscaping by Wild Studio, creating a new urban courtyard for residents and visitors.<\/p>\n

Anchoring the eastern podium is the STEAMM Gallery and Garden, a multi-level cultural hub celebrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics and Music. The gallery is planned as a public-facing facility with exhibition areas, creative studios and event space, offering what the planning report calls \u201ca genuine community benefit and cultural anchor for the precinct.\u201d<\/p>\n

Basement and podium levels would accommodate 614 car parking spaces (554 resident, 23 visitor and 37 commercial\/retail) and 483 bicycle spaces across all uses. Vehicle access is proposed from Trafalgar Street, supported by flood-resilient basement design and safe servicing zones. The development also integrates dedicated loading bays and waste management systems located away from public frontages.<\/p>\n

The proposal positions Stanley Quarter as a catalyst project for Woolloongabba\u2019s urban regeneration, aligning with EDQ\u2019s vision for a \u201cwalkable, transit-oriented and subtropical mixed-use centre.\u201d<\/p>\n
