Alex Wong\/Getty Images <\/p>\nVice President JD Vance revealed that he thinks Ibuprofen, a common pain medication, is \u201cuseless,\u201d admitting he\u2019s \u201ccrazy\u201d for a belief he said was in line with \u201cMAHA style.\u201d <\/p>\n
While speaking with Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at a Nov. 12 MAHA summit in Washington, D.C., Vance opened up about \u201cthe one way\u201d he is \u201cmore instinctively MAHA,\u201d referencing the Trump administration\u2019s Make America Healthy Again initiative led by Kennedy.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I have like, you know, a back sprain, or I slept weird and I woke up with back pain, I don\u2019t want to take Ibuprofen,\u201c Vance said. \u201dI don\u2019t like taking medications. I don\u2019t like taking anything unless I absolutely have to. And I think that is another MAHA style attitude. It\u2019s not anti-medication, it\u2019s anti-useless-medication.”<\/p>\n
Although Vance was seemingly trying to cozy up to MAHA by highlighting a relatable opinion, he did appear to understand the absurdity in his statement as he prefaced his opinion by explaining that he\u2019s just \u201cone of these crazy people.\u201d<\/p>\n
The White House and representatives for Vance did not immediately respond to the Daily Beast\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
MAHA\u2019s website<\/a> claims that under Kennedy\u2019s leadership, it is \u201ctaking bold, decisive action to reform America\u2019s food, health, and scientific systems to identify the root causes of the chronic disease epidemic and Make America Healthy Again.\u201d <\/p>\n However, the group has faced plenty of criticism for promoting Kennedy\u2019s anti-vaccination views<\/a> and his support of those who feel similarly.<\/a> <\/p>\n Kennedy has a long history of being anti-vaccination and medication, including (but not limited to) refusing to promote the measles vaccine amid a measles surge<\/a>, opting instead to state misleading pseudoscience<\/a> about it and using his anti-vaccine nonprofit<\/a> to blame the hospital for the deaths of two young girls who died of measles. He also announced that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention would no longer recommend children and pregnant women get the COVID vaccine<\/a>, citing the reasoning as \u201ccommon sense.\u201d <\/p>\n More recently, Kennedy bizarrely claimed<\/a> that circumcised children have double the rate of autism, most likely due to Tylenol consumption.
