\n\tJennifer Aniston<\/a> told Elle magazine<\/a> as part of its Women in Hollywood cover series that it was \u201cvery dangerous\u201d when ABC pulled her longtime friend Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> off the air in September because of comments he made about Charlie Kirk\u2019s shooting death. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cUnthinkable things are happening,\u201d Aniston said. \u201cIt\u2019s very dangerous and very unfortunate. But at the end of the day, we\u2019re the viewers. We subscribe to these networks and streaming services, so it really comes down to the people and their voices. All those subscription cancellations spoke volumes.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tAniston is referring to reports <\/a>that Kimmel\u2019s suspension resulted in a surge of Disney+ and\u00a0Hulu<\/a>\u00a0subscription cancellations by consumers outraged over ABC\u2019s decision. According to research firm Antenna for the month of Sept. 2025, the U.S. cancellation rate for Disney+ averaged 8% \u2014 double the 4% estimate for the prior two months \u2014 while Hulu\u2019s cancellation rate for the month was 10%, twice the 5% for the preceding two months.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn his Sept. 15\u00a0monologue<\/a>\u00a0shortly after Kirk\u2019s suspected killer was arrested, Kimmel quipped: \u201cWe hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them.\u201d The line got the late-night host suspended. When he returned to air on Sept. 23, an emotional Kimmel said it was never his intention \u201cto make light of the murder of a young man.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tABC\u2019s decision to suspend Kimmel did not sit right with many in Hollywood. Oscar Isaac recently made headlines<\/a> for saying he was \u201cnot so open\u201d to working with Disney (ABC\u2019s parent company) on another \u201cStar Wars\u201d movie in the immediate aftermath of Kimmel\u2019s suspension. The actor added: \u201cIf they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great\u2026 If that happens, then yeah, I\u2019d be open to having a conversation about a galaxy far away. Or any number of other things.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAniston, meanwhile, had this message to send to Americans amid the current political divide: \u201cWe all need to listen to both sides. That\u2019s what we\u2019ve lost. We\u2019ve lost communication, we\u2019ve lost sitting across a table and having a discussion that is productive, learning from each other. It feels like everyone is sort of stuck in their positions and it\u2019s my way or the highway, and that\u2019s just not how the world works.\u201d<\/p>\n
