\n\tIn the November 12 finale episode, Mel\u2019s trip to Antigua continues with Fantasy Suites and the Final Rose ceremony. Headed into the finale, Mel\u2019s final two are:<\/p>\n

\n\tMel Owens picks Peg Munson as his winner in The Golden Bachelor finale. Mel proposes to the 62-year-old retired firefighter and bomb tech from Las Vegas in the finale, leaving Cindy single.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Golden Bachelor was filmed between July and September 2025, which means that Mel proposed to Peg two months ago.<\/p>\n

\n\tMel and Peg\u2019s engagement was confirmed by The Sun<\/a> on November 5 and Bachelor Nation<\/a>\u2018s go-to source for intel, Reality Steve<\/a>, on October 24.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cExecs were terrified he wouldn\u2019t get down on one knee and convinced throughout most of the season it was looking like he wouldn\u2019t,\u201d a source told The Sun of Mel\u2019s proposal to Peg. \u201cIt was a huge relief he ended up going through with it. Again, everyone is thrilled, if not even surprised, behind the scenes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFor his part, Reality Steve revealed the spoiler on October 24 after previously expressing uncertainty about whether he would get any insider intel for Mel\u2019s season.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHopefully, at some point, I\u2019ll get spoilers. Right now, I have none,\u201d Steve said during the September 23 episode of his pod<\/a>. \u201cI couldn\u2019t tell you where they went for Final Rose ceremony. I can\u2019t tell you who the final three are.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe explained that this is a change from the previous season of The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette<\/a>, for which we knew spoilers at this point. He said, \u201cAnd for the first two seasons of Golden Bachelor and Golden Bachelorette, I had all that info and you knew it, at least for Gerry\u2019s season, you knew who the final two were.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSteve, who has been critical of Mel over comments the season lead made on a podcast<\/a> about desiring women under the age of 60, even reported that ABC was considering replacing him<\/a> earlier in the summer, added that he\u2019s keeping his coverage of The Golden Bachelor to a minimum this season.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019ve got nothing. I got nothing right now. If I did, I would tell you, but, the days of me coming on the next day after a Golden Bachelorette or a Golden Bachelor and breaking down what we saw on the episode, certainly not gonna be writing anything about it,\u201d he shared. \u201cThe coverage of Golden Bachelor is gonna be very, very minimal from me, just because I don\u2019t care, and that\u2019s my stance.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\tWhat Has Mel Said About Who He Picks?\t<\/p>\n

\n\tMel gave details about who he picks to Us Weekly<\/a> in an October 22 interview, saying that he was leaning \u201ca little bit more toward one person than the other, so I went with my gut.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe go to Antigua. I\u2019ve never been there. I\u2019ve been to islands, but I\u2019ve never been there. But whoever scouted it out and set it up and got things prepared, just the little details, it\u2019s just so good,\u201d he said of the finale episode. \u201cIt\u2019s really emotional. And you\u2019re a little nervous, but it\u2019s so brilliant\u2026 It\u2019s so good, you won\u2019t believe it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\tDoes Mel Get Engaged In The Golden Bachelor?\t<\/p>\n

\n\tMel allegedly get engaged to Peg in the finale episode, much to the satisfaction of producers who worried that he wouldn\u2019t get down on one knee.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cProducers doubted if Mel was going to land the plane and pull through at the beginning,\u201d a source told The Sun. \u201cBut he really turned things around at the end and made this season work for him. They weren\u2019t sure if he was going to propose and he wasn\u2019t even sure if he was going to.\u201d<\/p>\n
