Kai, who currently attends the University of Miami, received a sponsor exemption to play in this prestigious event.LPGA great and tournament host Annika Sorenstam spoke fondly about Kai on Tuesday, November 12, during the pre-event press conference after playing a few holes with her. Sorenstam admired her intensity, concentration, and capacity to handle pressure at such a young age. Speaking at the Pelican Golf Club on Tuesday, Annika Sorenstam said she was impressed with Kai Trump\u2019s skills. \u201cThis is the second time I\u2019ve met her but the first time I\u2019ve played with her,\u201d Sorenstam told reporters. \u201cShe hits the ball really high and drives it well. She knows she has to work on her putting and short game, especially around these greens, which can be tough. But as far as distance, that\u2019s not going to be an issue for her.\u201dSorenstam added that Kai\u2019s confidence and maturity stood out. \u201cObviously, this is a big scene for her. It\u2019s a huge stage, but she\u2019s handling it well. She has a real passion for the sport,\u201d she said. Sorenstam, who has seen many young players rise through the ranks, said she admired Kai\u2019s strength and focus despite the attention around her family name.\u201cShe must be super tough on the inside,\u201d Sorenstam said. \u201cI mean, at 18 years old, to hear all the comments and criticism, she still shows up, works hard, and stays positive.
