{"id":281186,"date":"2025-11-13T06:26:09","date_gmt":"2025-11-13T06:26:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/281186\/"},"modified":"2025-11-13T06:26:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-13T06:26:09","slug":"death-mastermind-chuck-schuldiners-cover-of-madonnas-frozen-surfaces-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/281186\/","title":{"rendered":"Death Mastermind Chuck Schuldiner&#8217;s Cover of Madonna&#8217;s &#8220;Frozen&#8221; Surfaces Online"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Chuck Schuldiner\u2019s home-recorded cover of <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/artist\/madonna\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Madonna<\/a>\u2018s 1998 song \u201cFrozen\u201d has surfaced online via the late <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/artist\/death\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Death<\/a> mastermind\u2019s nephew.<\/p>\n<p>The metal icon\u2019s nephew Chris Steele surprised fans on Tuesday with the post to the official Death <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DQ6sBDbk2N3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Instagram<\/a> page, sharing a picture of a burned CD-R with the text \u201cFrozen\u201d scrawled in Sharpie marker and a video of him listening to the disc in his vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Steele also revealed some backstory about the instrumental, writing that he remembers Chuck recording it in his bedroom with his guitar and drum machine during the early stages of his battle with cancer, which ultimately claimed the life of the pioneering death metal musician in 2001.<\/p>\n<p>Related Video<\/p>\n<p>Wrote Steele:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">\u201cFound this today going through some things. Chuck recorded this in the early stages of his battle with cancer, I remember it well. Chuck sitting in his bedroom with his stealth and a drum machine. I\u2019m not sure how many people outside of the family and a few friends have heard this but it\u2019s all yours. Chuck\u2019s version of Madonna\u2019s 1998 single \u2018Frozen\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully fan interest leads to a proper CD rip and licensing for the cover, which sounds like it\u2019s beautiful, even over a phone recording of the music playing through car speakers.
