{"id":281873,"date":"2025-11-13T14:03:07","date_gmt":"2025-11-13T14:03:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/281873\/"},"modified":"2025-11-13T14:03:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-13T14:03:07","slug":"miguel-oliveira-confirms-2026-worldsbk-crew-chief-first-bmw-test-date","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/281873\/","title":{"rendered":"Miguel Oliveira confirms 2026 WorldSBK crew chief, first BMW test date"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">Ahead of his final MotoGP race as a full-time rider, Miguel Oliveira has confirmed who he will work with as his crew chief in his first WorldSBK season next year.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Oliveira\u2019s move to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/wsbk\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">World Superbike<\/a> with BMW came after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/wsbk\/racer\/995265\/toprak-razgatlioglu\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Toprak Razgatlioglu<\/a> was announced as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/teams\/prima-pramac-yamaha\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pramac Yamaha<\/a> MotoGP rider for 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In the end, they effectively swapped rides, and Oliveira originally thought he was going to inherit Razgatlioglu\u2019s whole crew at BMW.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">But Razgatlioglu\u2019s crew chief, Phil Marron, will move to KTM next year and is set to work with Brad Binder, leaving Oliveira\u2019s crew chief spot open for next year. But ahead of his final <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MotoGP <\/a>appearance, the Portuguese rider has been able to confirm who he will work with in 2026.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cMy crew chief is currently Andrew Pitt,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/911996\/miguel-oliveira\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Miguel Oliveira<\/a> said on Thursday (13 November) at the Valencia MotoGP, after confirming that his first test on the M1000 RR will be on 26\u201327 November in Jerez.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Although he is yet to ride the M1000 RR, Oliveira was able to get a second-hand, reverse preview of one of the key changes he will experience from this year to next, that being the switch from Michelin to Pirelli tyres, thanks to Nicolo Bulega\u2019s feedback last weekend on his MotoGP debut in Portimao.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Bulega crashed early on in the Sprint in Portugal, which he put down to braking as he would on his Ducati Panigale V4 R World Superbike with the Pirellis instead of the way he had been learning to brake with the Michelins.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cFrom what we heard from Pirellis, they are amazing tyres for the feedback, especially, and they give you a good confidence straight away from the garage,\u201d Oliveira said.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cFor me, hearing that riding the Michelin is quite different, I think it\u2019s good training.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThese tyres are one of the best, for sure, because otherwise we wouldn\u2019t be able to do the lean angles that we do on these bikes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cAnd the bikes are quite different, also. So, to compare a tyre with a different bike, it\u2019s also unfair.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cSo, let\u2019s see, let\u2019s see in one year\u2019s time when the Pirellis come to MotoGP if it\u2019s like that and if the different feeling and the struggle for braking continues in Superbike with the Michelins.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cBut I think it\u2019s a different bike and an unfair comparison.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Valencia \u201can extra\u201d after \u201cbusy\u201d Portimao send-off<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">While Portimao was Bulega\u2019s first MotoGP race, it was the final home grand prix for Oliveira in his full-time MotoGP career.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The emotions that surrounded that weekend, which featured a grid ceremony centred around the 30-year-old, mean that the Valencia finale is \u201cmuch more relaxed\u201d.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cIt feels like an extra,\u201d Oliveira said of the Valencia race.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cIt does feel much more relaxed and I\u2019m happy to have this kind of goodbye, a little bit less emotional, for sure, after the last grand prix.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cJust feel like more relaxed, ready to go, and ready to enjoy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">He added: \u201cPortimao was so much going on off-track. Okay, it was more of a busy weekend, but the emotional way that everything had, the people that came in saying hello and giving their strength, the people in the grandstand \u2013 it was just so emotional.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cIt was a weekend where I got off riding but not at my fullest and here I feel like it\u2019s completely different.
