The pair holiday here every year, he calls it one of the most beautiful places in the world, and he even stamped his name on a McLaren Vale red.<\/p>\n<p>Now, he\u2019s put down permanent roots. The Finnish 10-time Grand Prix winner and his partner, professional cyclist Tiffany Cromwell, have officially bought\u00a0The Vineyard McLaren Vale, a luxury retreat set on a 15-acre working vineyard framed by rolling hills and wide-open views of the Fleurieu Peninsula. The couple will make the main house their base whenever they\u2019re in South Australia, but if he has it his way, it\u2019ll become a permanent home when they retire. The remaining guest houses will continue to be available for visitors.  <\/p>\n<p>Bottas\u2019 connection to McLaren Vale began in 2020, when bushfires cancelled a Kangaroo Island trip and a last-minute search brought him and Cromwell to the retreat. Since then, the vineyards, the coastal air and of course the wine have lured him in. He is particularly partial to the region\u2019s famed red varietals \u2013 especially Shiraz \u2013 and even collaborated with Oliver\u2019s Taranga on the\u00a0IHANA Edition #2\u00a0release earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>The love for the area extends even further. The pair are also behind\u00a0RADL GRVL, South Australia\u2019s flagship gravel-riding event and part of the global GRVL series. Co-founded with American cyclist Amy Charity, the event returns during the\u00a0Tour Down Under\u00a0this January with new routes across the Fleurieu, including a fresh climb up Kings Hill Road just outside Willunga.<\/p>\n<p>The 2026 edition expands to\u00a0three courses\u00a0\u2013 34km, 64km, and 126km \u2013 with an e-bike-friendly option to welcome riders of all abilities.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/FNLD-GRVL-2023-riders-in-forrest.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-659343 webpexpress-processed\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve enjoyed some very memorable gravel rides around Adelaide and McLaren Vale over the last few years, so when the opportunity arose to bring an event to the area, I was fully committed,\u201d Bottas told Glam Adelaide\u00a0last year.<\/p>\n<p>They hope the extended courses will help introduce the region to even more people. <\/p>\n<p>Between the cycling, the wine, and now their own property, Bottas and Cromwell are fast becoming two of South Australia\u2019s most unexpected global ambassadors. They\u2019ve raced on some of the world\u2019s greatest circuits and roads, but it seems McLaren Vale is the finish line they were always meant to cross.
