{"id":282886,"date":"2025-11-14T00:59:12","date_gmt":"2025-11-14T00:59:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/282886\/"},"modified":"2025-11-14T00:59:12","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T00:59:12","slug":"jorgensen-fullback-at-home-as-wallabies-star-relishes-irish-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/282886\/","title":{"rendered":"Jorgensen (full)back at home as Wallabies star relishes Irish challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"css-2425b0\">Max Jorgensen feels comfortable on his return to fullback as the Wallabies star looks to take down Ireland in Dublin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-2425b0\">Jorgensen has made his name on the wing but shifts to the back for Sunday\u2019s (AEDT) match after missing the defeat to Italy due to tonsillitis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-2425b0\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stan.com.au\/watch\/sport\/rugby\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" class=\"css-tm001h\">Watch every second of the 2025 Autumn Nations Series live and on demand via Stan Sport.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"css-2425b0\">The 21-year-old started both games of the Bledisloe Cup in the number 15 jersey, along with most of his time during the Waratahs before the arrival of Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-2425b0\">\u201cIt&#8217;s good to be back at 15, I played a lot of it obviously when I was younger and played a fair bit of the \u2018Tahs, so I&#8217;m feeling comfy, had a good training week this week and ready to go,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-2425b0\">\u201cIt&#8217;s definitely easy to get involved as a fullback, but over the past couple of weeks, we haven&#8217;t been at our best in our attack, spreading the ball out wide and doing what we usually do.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-2425b0\">&#8220;We&#8217;ve been working on that over the last two weeks, and we really know that we haven&#8217;t been at our best for these past two games, and we&#8217;re really looking to switch that up this weekend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-2425b0\">The Waratahs star <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugby.com.au\/news\/saved-a-few-of-the-boys-careers-ikitau-wallabies-ready-to-fight-for-schmidt-20251111\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" class=\"css-tm001h\">echoed the sentiment <\/a>that the squad were desperate to honour Joe Schmidt\u2019s potential last game in Ireland with a win, the place the Kiwi coach made his name with the opposition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-2425b0\">\u201cJoe&#8217;s been great\u00a0for us over these past two years and really turned the team around from what it was before,\u201d Jorgensen said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-2425b0\">\u201cWe can really harness that and send him off on a high with\u00a0these last two games [away from home]. It\u2019s something we can definitely harness and put in a good shift for Joe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-2425b0\">Jorgensen\u2019s return at fullback comes as James O\u2019Connor slots back into the Wallabies team at fly-half.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-2425b0\">O\u2019Connor\u2019s return is timely as Carter Gordon deals with an ongoing quad complaint, which was aggravated in Udine last week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-2425b0\">Back-rower Rob Valetini believes his energy, along with the return of Len Ikitau, has given the visitors a noticeable lift heading into the final fortnight of Tests.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-2425b0\">\u201cIt&#8217;s been awesome especially this week the\u00a0whole team sort of turned up the training on Tuesday,\u201d Valetini said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-2425b0\">\u201cBoys have been turning up this week which is pretty awesome.
