It was win or go home in Thursday\u2019s evening doubles match at the Nitto ATP Finals<\/a>, and Julian Cash<\/a> and Lloyd Glasspool<\/a> rose to the occasion, ousting Marcel Granollers<\/a> and Horacio Zeballos<\/a> to claim second in the Peter Fleming<\/a> group.<\/p>\n \nWith their 6-3, 7-5, victory, Cash and Glasspool set an all-British semi-final showdown against Joe Salisbury<\/a> and Neal Skupski<\/a>. Applying pressure on return throughout the match, the top seeds earned a crucial break at 5-5 in the second set before serving it out to avoid any late drama.<\/p>\n \u201cWe knew it was going to be a very tough match,\u201d Cash said. \u201cThey\u2019re definitely one of the most in-form teams. They haven\u2019t played a lot of tennis, but when they\u2019ve been on the court, they\u2019ve won pretty much everything. We expected them to play as well as they did and we fought very deep in the big moments and managed to come out on top.\u201d<\/p>\n Glasspool added: \u201cMassive confidence [boost]. I didn\u2019t like the way I played in the first round. Earlier this season, Cash and Glasspool claimed their maiden major title at Wimbledon<\/a>, where they became the first all-British pair to claim a major men\u2019s doubles trophy since 1936. <\/p>\n Having beaten Granollers and Zeballos in the Wimbledon<\/a> semi-finals en route to that historic run, Cash and Glasspool are now 2-0 in their Lexus ATP Head2Head series against the Spanish-Argentine team, the duo that won this year’s Roland Garros<\/a> and the US Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n Cash and Glasspool finish the Peter Fleming<\/a> group with a 2-1 record. They began the week with a loss to home favourites Simone Bolelli<\/a> and Andrea Vavassori<\/a> before bouncing back against defending champions Kevin Krawietz<\/a> and Tim Puetz<\/a>.
