He boasts 371 games of NBA experience and a decorated professional career, but Troy Brown Jr is not here to make it about himself.<\/p>\n
The 26-year-old is fully prepared to play off Bryce Cotton and do anything it takes to help Adelaide win.<\/p>\n
Brown Jr arrived in Australia on Friday and is expected to suit up on Sunday against Cairns, despite not having hit the court in close to eight months.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel like it will be more about me learning the scheme, getting the team chemistry together, but I feel like as a professional athlete you always stay in shape, you always stay ready for opportunities,\u201d Brown said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t want to go out and jinx anything, but personally for me I feel confident in myself right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Brown Jr says he\u2019s more than comfortable playing second fiddle to Cotton.<\/p>\n
\u201cMe and coach talked about being able to give Bryce a break a little bit. Obviously he\u2019s still going to be Bryce. We want him to be Bryce, but being the primary ball-handler and having to bring the ball up, people are face-guarding him \u2026 also, being able to help on the rebounds and be able to play fast, instead of him having to walk the ball up the court,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s just using my versatility to be really help the team in whatever manner it needs to.<\/p>\n
\u201cI watched some film looking at how they [Adelaide] play and how hard they play, the ball movement, the pieces they have I think it\u2019s a really good team.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the team they already have and just adding me, I think it\u2019ll be great.\u201d<\/p>\n
Brown Jr has heard great things about playing in the NBL and can’t wait to get started. <\/p>\n
\u201cI feel like a lot of the guys who played in the league or want an opportunity [in the NBA] come through the NBL,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The 36ers host Cairns on Sunday, against one of Brown Jr\u2019s former teammates in Puerto Rico, with all the action live on ESPN and 10 from 4.30pm AEDT.<\/p>\n
