Something’s gone WRONG! Jamie O’Hara & Jason Cundy CRITICISE Harry Kane for dropping too deep in England games<\/p>\n
However, Kane was able to show off his array of attributes as club side Bayern Munich<\/a> can attest to.<\/p>\n Beyond his 23 goals in 17 games for the Bundesliga champions this season, Kane has willingly displayed a hybrid role, often dropping deep to play as a No.10 and at times starting attacks from the defensive line.<\/p>\n While Kane\u2019s ubiquitous nature has been a recent point of discussion, it acts as nothing new to Tottenham fans who often purred over the star\u2019s insatiable work ethic.<\/p>\n But with global eyes now fixed on the 32-year-old more than ever, Kane\u2019s skillset is now a topical debate, however it appears that not everyone is sold on it.<\/p>\n Discussing Kane\u2019s recent transition on The Sports Bar<\/a>, Jamie O\u2019Hara and Jason Cundy<\/a> were full of praise for the Three Lions captain but vented their positional concerns ahead of next summer\u2019s World Cup.<\/p>\n Kane told his positioning is counterproductive<\/p>\n Cundy told talkSPORT: \u201cThere was one occasion however he picked the ball up and he was the deepest outfield player on the pitch but he played a brilliant 60-yard ball into Rashford.\u201d<\/p>\n Co-host O\u2019Hara then asked the question: \u201cDo we want Harry Kane picking the ball up off the back four?\u201d<\/p>\n The ex-Spurs and Wolves midfielder continued: \u201cListen, I love it, it\u2019s breathtaking to watch and I think he\u2019s fantastic. I\u2019ve seen him do it for Bayern Munich, He plays in a little No.10 role. He gets in little pockets and his ball retention is incredible, his passes are great.<\/p>\n \u201cI love it, but do we need it? I want to see Harry Kane affect the game in the final third.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t want to see him on the other side of the half way line picking the ball up deeper than Declan Rice<\/a>. It\u2019s a great tackle but for me, why is Harry Kane on the edge of the box?<\/p>\n \u201cSomething has gone wrong positionally if Harry Kane<\/a> is diving in on the edge of the box to make a tackle.\u201d<\/p>\n Cundy agreed in part with his colleague but did reserve praise for Kane endeavour during transitions.<\/p>\n \u201cHarry Kane has matured into an all-round attacking player,\u201d Cundy added. “I take your point but when he does drop deep, I see him ping balls out and then ten seconds later he\u2019s in the box to try and get it.<\/p>\n \u201cHe can’t do it from the edge of our own box but it will be interesting to see how that relationship develops.\u201d<\/p>\n How Kane’s deeper position can work for England at the World Cup<\/p>\n \u201cHarry Kane is one of the best players in the world right now,” Cundy continued.” He can do so many jobs and he does them effortlessly.
